Honest john, good job getting the card up and running , was wondering how it was. I think ill keep the sapphire though. So far no problems. Might get a Zalman Fatal1ty cooler for it come summer though. :john:

this is where the cpu comes into importance..... and that is maintaining a steady framerate and keeping the minimum framerate up. :)

Well mine is up and running now and heads and shoulders above my 6800 gt. Happy with the purchase despite some saying it was not worth it on my rig.

Why is your "Computer settings" set at medium, that will drive your FPS up faster than anything, try it on Maximum.

Go for the E4300, with that you could reach 2.6ghz+. Its overclocks better with boards that cant reach a high bus because of its higher multi. With the E6300 yo u wouldnt get passed 2.1ghz.

Its not exactly at the price is suppose to be right now but it should get cheaper.

absolutely. call of duty 2 is the most punishing game i've tried so far. most of the time it's fine with all ingame options on max but some stages really punish you - dropping to 10-15fps in places. unplayable so i had to turn a few settings down.... :p i'm sure if i had a c2d i wouldn't have had that problem. :D

other games such as hl2 run fine with all setting max with a constant 60fps (i play with vsync on). :)

Vsync is your problem, you need to get rid of that cause seriously I dont know much about tearing in games but I doubt it happens in them all. And if so there has to be some sort of fix.

well i set vsync on in the hl2 options so it doesn't affect other games.... ;)

and i HAVE to enable it as the screen does tear if i don't. :)

you obviously don't have a tft?

Nope, tft is not a term Im highly familiar with. Is that a regular tv used as a monitor?

o and I guess his monitor must have like a 25ms response time or something.
I have 5ms and don't get any noticable tearing, most monitors now don't come with over 16ms. When did you buy yours marc?

All be damned you are right and thank you. I just recently picked up a 5ms Samsung and have v-sync turned on just out of habit. I had previously been using a 25ms Dell for about 2 years and just never thought to change it. Appreciate it.

I really don't thus thats why I'm asking rofl. Oddly enough I don't know everything. Only knowledge I really had was that tearing usually is a cause of a high response time. So I asked ya know.
