I do property and termite inspections on real estate transactions in San Francisco. During the internet boom of 99-00 50% of our clients were New Yorkers, in the last year a good 40% of our clients are from Britian, so my question is, is an invasion in the works?
Hey, Canada is supposed to have first dibbs on the invasion of the US! Are they older people? A lot of Brits retire in the US and Canada simply because their retirements savings are effectively doubled. 1 pound in the UK has the buying power of $1 here, even though it's true value is double that. That's why it pays to come here and exchange their savings.
Since we are getting invaded by poles for the cheap labour i suppose imigrating wouldnt be a bad idea. I mite move to australia i wouldnt move to america though. I think calling it a british invasion is a little exagarated.
They're mostly educated professionals, San Francisco aint cheap. For a cheap 2 bedroom house you're talkin $750,000.
Yeah, the price of Real Estate in California is sky high. Is there any particular job sector they are coming in to fill...or is it scattered? Or, are you not privy to that information?
Lawyers, a couple of guys that work for CNN International, some that have opened up various shops in the city.
Noooo, Aussies are really rude, we don't want more people =P Unless your a hot hot female with tight jeans and and..... *Cough* Anyway!, Yea we don't want you j/k
Well i was actually planning on taking over the US, i started writing up a regime, and it involved taking over america and getting rid of imigrants, but thats a whole new story. Oh and i would want to permanently live in the US, maybe Aus though.
It's cos everything in the UK is stupidly expensive. I'm planning on working in Canada for a few months after Uni simply because the living costs are lower. Round here you're looking at about $400k US for a 2 bedroom house...it's insane.
Wow that is insane. Around here or at least in michigan a typical house like that MIGHT run you for 90-120k depending on the hood. But most expensive I have seen of that (2 bedrom) was 250k and it was a bitchin house that looked over a lake.
america has already been invaded by the mexicans. although i hate the way brits talk, id easily trade 1:1 for brits
My parents house, standard 2 bedroom (third bedroom is little more than a cupboard) they bought it for £9,000 20 years ago. Without it being up to its full potential, by adding a loft conversion and whatever its worth £300,000. That's like almost $600,000. For a hovel. They could probably retire on that alone in the states. That's why people are moving from this country. I think more people are leaving this country for France, Australia, America, etc. then ever before. It's just stupid not to with the value of property.
Although on the news the other our prices and economy are indeed actualy better than its been for a 3 months lol
