Yeah, saw that, too.

I've GOT to find out how this is going to work! As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm happy with my 6800nu even 'knowing' this mod was impossible.

If it's NOT impossible, though....well, then, DAMN, I'm one happy camper!

Here is the Babelfish translation, with me making a few obvious replacements for grammar purposes:
Quote:
As reports that leading division 3d- video Andrey Vorobyev, Aleksey nikolaychuk (author of the popular utility RivaTuner) could find the mechanism, with the aid of which NVIDIA advance 12 or 16 {pipelines} to GeForce 6800 and 6800GT/Ultra respectively. Now we briefly will illustrate, that will give the following version of the utility (for an example it were used map GeForce 6800)
[picture]
And since we see, the number of {pipelines} 12 (y2khy), by the way, now RivaTuner knows how to show the number of working {pipelines}.
[picture]
But here is the desired laying, which makes it possible to change the number of {pipelines}.
[picture]
{Voila}! After reloading, we could obtain y'khy, i.e., 16 {pipelines}. Of course if {it fails}, {as in the 4 turned off pipelines are broken}, then after switching on there can be artifacts; therefore we cannot guarantee, that all GeForce 6800 can be altered in 6800GT on the chip. The release of this program us, by the way, greatly helped, since, as it was explained, in MSI GeForce 6800, article according to which left today, they work not 12, but 16 {pipelines}! Therefore the corresponding correcting will be introduced in the article. However, we cannot guarantee, that all similar pays from MSI will have also 16 {pipelines}. Await further information!

Don't forget that 6800NU only has 2.8ns ram, so the max you can get is around ~800Mhz ram, compared to 1.1-1.2Ghz on the 6800GT.

The PCB is also different, and I haven't seen any 6800NU go higher than ~400Mhz core.

Overall, if it works on ALL the cards, it would be a good deal, but considering it still costs ~$285USD or higher, and 6800GT can be had for around $370USD, you get what you pay for.

The memory on my card can manage 900Mhz easily..

According to xbit labs article:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...6800-oc_5.html

Quote:
There’s no sense to hope that some of NVIDIA’s GeForce 6800 chips have 16 “healthy” pipelines and some of them are just disabled for no particular reason – NVIDIA is not in a position to make such gifts today.
Of course, theres a possibility that some slipped through....

/me wants new rivatuner

Hey, who knows, I might be able to unlock the hidden 4 pipes on 6800gt too, to bring the grand total to 20pipes!

On serious note, 6800-owners need an updated rivatuner which won't crash stuff with incompatible drivers

Too bad it sounds like it's kind of difficult to deactivate the other 4 pipes once you flash the Ultra BIOS on your 6800 standard if they turn out to be defective. Still, it would be so cool if some good ones slipped through the cracks.

Yeah, but this ISN'T A BIOS FLASH.

That's why it's cool - yeah, the BIOS flash, if it screws up, is hard to undo.

This isn't. If 16 pipes don't work, just reboot. *poof*, back to 12 pipes!

It's a *software* mod, NOT a *BIOS* mod!

This is different, and better, which is why we can't wait to try it out! It can't hurt to try, if it works, great, you've got a 16 pipeline card! If it doesn't, no problem, just turn it off and reboot, and you're back to normal!

This is GREAT news!

Yeah, I know the new Rivatuner could be great, but what they were doing in the review is what I was talking about. They were using the BIOS flash. Obviously Rivatuner could fix things in a snap if they don't work. I can't wait.

loool, so you guys really think, he will release a new RT a few days after he is back from vacation?! That would mean, that you EXPECTED him to work on RT through the whole vacation? Lol, you guys have no RESPECT. Or does anybody of YOU continue to work during holidays???

Respect for the maker of RivaTuner! The only thing I don't understand is they "annonced" that it is possible to activate the 4 extra pipe from software/script. And now we are waiting and waiting for it... The "impatience" is accaptable I thik bacause all the 6800Nu users are eager to try this "mod".

Desmondo, you're a clever guy, ain't you?
You really can't think of the reason, why things are always announced much earlier in forums like this? It's coz they want us to come here every day and check it, this makes more clicks for their website! It's the only thing they expect from us- to come here and tell others to come here. So it's worth waiting- this holds guru3d alive.
