Angry 1680 x 1050 Resoltion problems - 07-10-2004, 02:06 | posts: 5 | Location: SAN FRAN

Hi all!! First post here..hoping you all can assist me.

Deep inhale...

I'm running an Apple 20 Cinema display with optimal res at 1680 x 1050. problem is that ATI does not appear to have this resolution on their Catalyst line. My old radeon 9800 xt used to run 1280 x 1024 and fill the screen without stretching to fit for some reason..but when I upgraded to the X800 pro it would not fit the entire screen from the start without stretching to fit which kills clarity and color as it's not 1 to 1. The desktop was stuck in a little 16inch window in the center of the display.

SO....I tried the 4.7 Beta with the X800 pro and
Interestingly enough..the BETA 4.7 driver released on this website has a 1680 x 1050 resolution setting which is great because I now have a 1 to 1 ratio on my Cinema Display (which is exceptional by the way). HOWEVER, The new official 4.7 released by ATI does not provide a 1680 x 1050. Am I forever stuck with the 4.7 Beta as they seemingly dropped the 1680x 1050 on the final version of 4.7?

Any thoughts..

Deep inhale..

Thanks,
Shrooman

Yes, download this:

Refresh Force

Add the resolution + refresh rate yourself.

You have a non-standard resolution so it's probably not officially selectable in all Catalyst driver versions.

Thanks for the Refresh Force tip! It was not successfull with the official 4.7 driver installed. For some reason it wouldnt take. I also never was given the 1680 x 1050 option in the control pannel.

So I'm back to the 4.7 Beta...

I hope ATI figures out that Cinema displays are vital to their future and includes the 1680 x 1050 option in a final release for 4.8 or 4.9
