Question Anyone tried to hardmod a Geforce FX5800 to QFX2000? - 01-14-2004, 21:20 | posts: 22 | Location: GERMANY

Anyone here hardmoded a "Geforce FX5800" to get a Quadro FX 2000? (R1 resistor from A-B to B-C)

I have a few questions:

Do i still need Softquadro on a hardmoded one ?
Does newer 5x.xx drivers works with a hardmoded fx5800 version ?
Anyone tried to hardmod it and patch it with a real QFX2000 Bios to see if 5.x.xx driver works?

I thought about trying it but my budget doesnīt allow it right now. But the suggestions you made I would second. And no there wouldnīt be a softquadro needed and I assume it should work on 5x.xx drivers, but you will never know what bricks and stones put in the way by nvidia and Iīm pretty sure that they were aware of that possibility.
On the other hand I donīt think that it would improve much on my system being an Athlon XP 1800+, I just thought about the nifty effects that I could have in DCC applications and Unwinder said that in his eyes the NV30 is to weak to be considered a good solution for whatever, the problem with the not proper working pixel shader units canīt be overcome with software solutions I think. But I canīt really comment, I can do all the stuff with my SQīed Geforce 4 Ti4400 and thatīs just fine, so sorry I couldnīt gave you a real information, just my 2 cents.

regards

Where are you getting this hardmod info?
Can you only do it with a 5800?

yes you can hardmod other cards but its the same using softquadro!
but noone know if it works with a 5800 because that card have something diferent that allow it to get high results on ugs and pro-e spec benchmarks.
maybe all features from quadro are on board and that card can become a real 100% working quadro by just moving that R1 resistor.
