Default Can riva tuner conflict with overdrive? - 01-10-2004, 11:38 | posts: n/a

When i run Asus Probe and start any other utility to check sensors i get asus probe results messed up. And or backwards.
So if i run RivaTuner to check card temperature can it conflict with Overdrive feature on Catalist drivers which is controld auto overlkicking of card?
I wounder if i can burn card like this so it will get overclocked untill it burn because sensor is messed by riva tuner ?

Conflicts between ASUS PCProbe and other hardware monitoring tools (MBM, AIDA etc) are caused by _slow_ nature of I2C/SMBus (i.e. one monitoring tool can interrupt I2C transaction that is currently in progress) and a bit incorrect (from my point of view) implementation. It's _possible_ to avoid it, hw. monitoring tools creators must just add some global synchronization measures to their code. My motherboard hw. monitoring tool (commercical project, not available for download) _never_ causes SMBus collisions with ASUS PCProbe because it uses the same synchronization events as PCProbe to avoid collisions.

Good question. No, it cannot. RT uses internal Catalyst's interface to get access to ATI I2C devices, and ATI programmers are not so stupid (at least I hope that they are not ) to allow their own I2C access code to collide with itself.

It's amazing that morons like him still are not extinct. Normally nature has it's own ways of fixing things.
