Default 15k cheetah - 01-05-2004, 06:24 | posts: n/a

Hello all

I am thinking of getting an OEM 15k cheetah, the 36gb model. I was confused by its u160 interface. can anyone explain to me what i would need to get it to work? remember it comes with no cables or cards or anything. btw i also have a 7200rpm hd that i would like to use with it and i am running that by ata133. thankyou in advance for your help

you need an extra scsi card, which will run you a couple of hundred dollars.
You might be better looking at a par of 36BG raptors and raid 0ing them (your 875 based mobo should have the intel sata raid 0 chip, which is very fast-- two of these might be cheaper than your config and nearly as fast if not as fast)

Yeah, pair of Raptors would be a much better option for the price. Pretty damn fast too... expecially if u raid 0 them. Trying to save the cash to get my second! lol!

had a 146.7 GB Cheetah..its a real hassle to setup and if you want real nice performance you'd have to spend 300-400 bucks on a 64-bit SCSI card..i'd just go with a SATA....plus SCSI's are wicked expensive...the cheetah i had was around 1000 bucks...ouch...
