Default Ge4mx440 to Quadro4 500/550 - 11-08-2003, 06:16 | posts: 48 | Location: @Pomona Comp. Show

Is it worth it even if I play mostly games? I dont play Vid Card killer games, just basic 3d online games such as EQ, etc.

Is it worth it? OR should I stick with me ge4?

Thanks

No. You'll get decreased performance in OpenGL games.

kakaru, please explain ur reasoning,
The move from GF4MX to Quadro 4 should be an increase in OpenGL performance. The decrease should be seen with DirectX performance.

You are completely wrong. Alex (kakaru) provided absolutely correct information.

Quadro = heavily CAD/DCC optimized ICD, no IQ reducing related performance optimizations. This results is slower performance in the most OpenGL gaming applications (especially when using anisotropic filtering).
GeForce = heavily game optimized ICD. Much slower than Quadro ICD in CAD/DCC due to lack of optimization for CAD/DCC applications, but faster (in some cases much faster) then Quadro in game.
And both of them use the same Direct3D driver
