Default Uninstalling driver problem. - 11-06-2003, 20:20 | posts: n/a

Well, I had to reformat a few nights ago, now my ATI drivers are in DRIVERS.CAB and SP1.CAB.

When I go to Device Manager, uninstall the drivers, and reboot, it automatically installs those same drivers. Is there a way to stop that from happening, so I can cleanly install the 3.9 drivers?

ok this is what u gotta do. unplugg your modem. i can tell you this, your on a cable/dsl modem

when windows starts your found new hardware starts and then installs the old drivers in the background andthen says your new hardware is ready to use huh.

well unplugg your modem, uninstall with add remove, run driver cleaner/cab cleaner. run smartygart uninstaller and catuninstaller from ati <just to be sure> then reboot with modem unplugged.

it should prompt you to install drivers from a spicific location, yada yada. click cancel, and run your 3.9 installation.

problem solved

edit: the reasonm it auto installs those drivers is because windows connects to windows update and is told what to install since it is already there local on your machine.
