Videocards - 3dfx How the mighty have fallen. Unfortunately the company is gone, but of course we still support the products. Use this forum to discuss anything concerning products using 3dfx chips from the Voodoo series.

Just purchased a home brew system off ebay:

ECS K7SEM mobo (SiS 730 Chipset)
AMD Athlon 1.3 GHZ (A Socket)
256 MG RAM
Win 98SE (Fresh Install)
OnBoard AGP and AGP Slot
OnBoard Audio

I installed my Voodoo 5500 and after installing drivers and rebooting
the systems locks up with blocks on the screen (in highest color set).
When I run the system with 256 colors, it runs, but I cant figure
out what is on the screen.

Tried all drivers I can find (all same results)
Tried to Flash BIOS on Card (locks up system)

I moved the V5500 card to my Pentium III 650 / Soyo Mobo w/VIA chipset
and installed the drivers and the system seems work OK (cant get
FSAA to work on Grand Prix Legends, yet).

I moved the V3000 card to my new AMD 1.3 and it ALMOST works (mouse
cursor looks like a box with little horizontal lines).

Would like to make the V5500 and AMD 1.3 Mhz combo work.
Any Suggestions?

Thinking about flashing V5500 Bios with 650 Mhz with 1.16 and
putting it back in 1.3 GHZ machine

OR

Buy Soyo Mobo with VIA Chipset for 1.3 GHZ machine.

BTW, this is a dedicated Grand Prix Legends Sim Machine.

Thanks,
Try to see if the video shadowing is on.If yew disable it.
Also if there are any utilities for your motherboard chipset, you should istall them.

Sorry for bad news.
Read on ecsusa.com that it's only compatible with Nvidia chipset.
Had the same problem. Personaly had to change to a ECS K7S5A board to get OK
You can see on this link.
http://www.ecsusa.com/Ecs_forum/search.cfm?forum=70&search=voodoo
There you may see others having same bug...

For GPL, forget FSAA.
Switch to 1600*1200 + full details will be ok.
