silverscreen supplier??? -

Hello,
does anybody know a good (=reliable and experienced)supplier for 3d front projection foil. I only found steward with over $800 sqm and and Da-lite with $170. What I need is a rollable silverscreen foil and that can be papered to a wall for a friends 3D setup.
Can anybody help?
cheers
Sam

3D projection -

You can get 3d with projection systems, and I expect that we may be able to get good 3D someday, but right now, I would say any idea of good 3D with a projector is a useless endeavor. I do not think that any projectors out today can handle the specs needed for good 3D -ie: refresh rates of 100 and above. And my experiments with it leave me with a lot of doubt as to implementation ever really working - but I hold out hope. See, I think the DLP's will one day handle the refresh rate, but I think there is some technical aspect of how our eyes work with light that may prevent the 3D from being experienced. Your friend can project an anaglyph mode of 3D with his system, and get 3D, but the images colors are all screwed up then, and this makes it unpleasant. Go to the site AVSForum.com, and you will find dedicated DLP enthusiasts with lots to say about screens. But tell your friend not to hold out hope for 3D, I think he is out of luck (barring the anaglyph aspect - which does work, but looks so bad)

Hi,
thanks for your answer so far but I mean something else:
I am asking for non-polarizing screens for linear polarized 3D front projection. Fir that, you can take 2 LCD or 2 DLP prjectors (depending on your budget) and place them as a so called Tandem Projection (stacked). For getting an awesome 3D image with games, etc. I take linear filters and put them in front of the lenses. Then I make use of the cheap polfilter googles to watch 3D. All colors are kept, only it is a little (40%) darker.
The only remaining point is, that the front projection foils (Silver Screens) are hard to buy and most screen/foil suppliers are not experienced with 3D. This is why I am asking here.
BTW, if you are interested in DLP 3D Projection with a single projector there is the Christie Mirage System that works awesome. Only, with €70.000 (the small solution) it's a little out of standart budgets
- cheers

Well you know, after my first initial tests, this thought was in the back of my mind - "two projectors would work!". I'll have to go back and reread your post, because the details didnt grab hold of me yet, but it sounds like you are a person I would like to chat with more. It also sounds like you probably already know about the various resources available - as in AVSForums, so I doubt I will be helping you much - but perhaps a bit of team work might locate the solution you seek a little faster. I remember doodling in high school; doodling little stereo images, trying to draw 3D images accessed by crossing my eyes. I mention this only as proof that I am finding out that 3D imaging, and application is important to me, but I am rather a fledgling of sorts - as I walked away from computers 15 yrs ago. Well I am back now, as computer speeds have finally caught up to acceptable ranges, and I am drawn again to 3D implementation. Anyway, I guess this is basically a "hello world" post. I'll go back and digest your reply, and see if I can add anything useful here later - Bios
