Default Barton 2500+ Temps - 05-30-2003, 00:34 | posts: 875 | Location: UK

My Barton 2500+ is running at 38c idle and 46 full load. Is this good or running a little hot?

Ive got a Volcano9 heatsink/Fan from Thermaltake on it at the moment with the temp sensor under the core of the chip, keeps the thing at 38 most when surfing the net.

Is this Good or Bad?

My 2100 runs at 54C under full load with no problems... your temps are actually pretty good.

My 2500 runs at 52 - 56 (o/cd core voltage + 5%) and I have had no problems. That's with stock cooling.

My system temp gets over 50 but thats because I have a hell of a lot of cables and stuff in my case, and because of the design my system fan only blows over one side of my main board properly.

I think it's on the hot side but if it aint broke I aint fixing it.

If your worried about heat, in addition to a system fan you could get an exhaust booster, which takes up a pci socket and blows the hot air out of the back of your case. They're cheap too - mine was about £20. Not sure how effective it is, but it certainly does blow out hot air.

Your temps at stock are about the same as mine were, which suprises me with your superior h/s & fan (used to have a volcano but the 747esc noise was just too much for me).

By all accounts your temps are well within saftey limits.

What kind of thermal paste are you using? Hopefully it is Arctic Silver 3?
