9500 NP Mod Article -

I've poked around in this forum on several occasions, mostly for Riva Tuner info, but this is the first time I've posted.
Back when the first news of the hardware mod of 128MB 9500 non-Pro cards broke in early January, I followed it intently, primarily in the HardOCP and Rage3D forums. I mean, who wouldn't like to have Radeon 9700 performance for about half the price? When the first successful software mods were announced a few days later, it interested me even more, because messing with tiny resistors on the card was something I really hoped to avoid. Based upon what I read, I ordered a 128MB Sapphire Atlantis 9500 card from Allstarshop.com and was lucky enough to get one that ran the mod without the visual artifact issue that plagued many people. I've run both Unwinder's SoftR9700 script mod and also W1zzard's hacked driver files and had success with both. Currently, I'm running the new Cat 3.2's with W1zzard's "9500-to-9800" hack, with excellent results.
In any case, back in January, it was a real struggle trying to keep up with all the relevant info spread over several websites, especially scrolling through forum threads that reached into the hundreds of postings. So I decided to put together an article on my website, trying to tie it all together. I originally posted it in late January, but I see that the topic is still getting some interest. And NewEgg is selling the old "red cards" again with the 9700 layout, so perhaps this may be useful to some folks.
