Unhappy Can't seem to break 10k with my system... - 01-24-2003, 11:04 | posts: 94 | Location: Singapore

Hi all.. I am on the following setup:

P4 1.8a

Intel D845BG mobo(yes I know it sucks)

512mb pc-2100(266mhz) Crucial DDR Ram(set at CAS 2 clocks, tRCD 2 clocks and RAS 2 clocks)

Triplex Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128mb RAM(it has a silver PCB and it's set to 270/545, default settings 250/500)

Win XP Pro

Soundblaster Live

I'm not too sure about my HDD models, but they are 60 gig Maxtor HDDs...

I have updated my chipset drivers, bios and installed almost every update from Windows Update. My GFX card drivers are the 41.09s(I have applied the Rivatuner patches for Anisobooster etc.)

Compare URL: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5700256

BTW, I have recently reduced my clock frequencies to 260/530 as I believe that the 270/545 was too high(strangely enough, I had been using those settings for a long time) as my system hung while playing a divx movie(a large red line appeared at the top of the screen, something like a big artifact).

Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me raise my 3dmark. Overclocking my processor is out of the question unfortunately.. Stupid mobo of mine...

Thanks!

1: 128 meg Ti 4200 useualy do not score as well as the 64 meg versions .
2: Try the 40.72 drivers they scored the best for me , however it doesn't sound like your card Overclocks well . I had mine clocked to 285/585 to score 10221 !
3: When you bench set additional properties as such ; AA off , Vsync off , OpenGL to best performance , then use rivatuner to OC .
For a 128 Mb card your score doesn't sound bad . I am worried about the OC on it tho . You realy haven't been pushing it hard and if it is causing problems with DVD playback it probably doesn't want to be OC'd . With the level of OC you had I would just run it stock anyways and OC just for benching . Good luck .

A lot of people come here and get caught up in the points race ! I did ! In the end use benchmarking for a performance comparison . With your set up if it was scoring in the 7k range I would say ok lets try some thing to fix it . But your score is right on par for your system . If your games play well and look good then don't worry about the points ! Good luck guy .

Yup I agree.. I think some people just take 3dmark too seriously... Real life applications are still a better benchmark and my games seem to run pretty well... Thanks again.
