Graphically, the game doesn't show any other anomalies, but no text does ever appear when I'm playing the game, including the main menu. I know this problem is somehow tied to my new video card since the Leadtek GF4 Ti 4200 I used own didn't present this problem. Patching the game didn't work. I'm currently using R9500 PRO with Catalyst 3.0a drivers. Directx 9 is installed.
You know the same thing happened to me with my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro using NHL 2003. The game appeared fine but there was no text on the screen. All other images where fine. I deleted the game. Let me know if you find a fix. Metasparks
Are you forcing Anti-Aliasing? If you are set it to application preference and it should fix the problem. It worked for me.
