Default newbie alert, 3dmark score - 01-18-2003, 12:06 | posts: n/a

hi, new to these forums so please forgive me if i act silly

just wondering is this a decent score for my system (could be in my sig, who knows, ill get it in there eventually)

Athlon tbird 1.2 (its a 1.3 underclocked, dont ask)
256mb pc133 sdram
creative geforce 4 ti 4600
abit kt7 with raid (disabled)
det 30.82

i originally got a score on 6500, which i wasnt happy with, so i messed about with the bios, enabled fast write etc and ive managed to get a high score of 7641. (3dmark 2001se on default settings)

still dont know whether im underpeforming, i know the card is capable of more but im limited by the rest of the machine.

any response will be appreciated

cheers

really nice card, too bad its only performing at around 60% of its potential...If you were to upgrade to say a 333 or 400kt mobo (SOLTEK BABY) and some ddr ram then your score would shoot up to at least 10000, probably more. If you were to upgrade the processor, as it sounds like you should (underclocked-LOL), then your score would hit 12500. The bad news is until you do get some new hardware to compliment your card, your scores and performance will struggle.

Think of your current mem/mobo/processor as a scud missle, and your 4600 as the US military...the military would sux with that type of explosive, UPGRADE

Well, I absolutely HATE seeing the US use a scud missle to do it dirty work...

Maybe some of us here can scrap together $$110.00 and get you a new mobo/cpu. All you need is a soltek 333kt ($55.00) and a athlon 1700+ ($55.00).

NObody should have to use a underclocked cpu (still LOL'ing) and sdram when they have a 4600. Lets us either A) give you money, or B) pray for you to find the courage and SPLURGE for 110$$$

Well, the way I see it is you a few options:

1. move to canada, HUGE tax returns (check out www.expedia.com for air fares)

2. get a paper or flyer route

3. ask a significant other to pay for it (thats how I got my 4600)

4. throw out your computer entirely (except for your 4600), because no 4600 should have to put up with your CLEAR neglect and emotional abuse.
