HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP plz

I just got this assigment and i got to hand it in by monday
I got to implement a still image compression progam using the wavelet transform (like in JPEG2000). This program has to be able to compress and decompress monochrome images and it has to be writen in Matlab but must not contain any of the ready made library routines, images should be supplied/stored as 8 bit integers, the first 4 bytes will contain the width (16 bits) and height (16 bits) of the image.
And to be honest i got absolutely no clue as to how to do this thing
If anyone has donne any work around image compression and wrote code on matlab for it PLZ HELP ME OUT
The page with the image that we r supposed to use is http://dali.ece.ul.ie:8080/~conwayt/
Thanx in advance

One very very stressed out student :/
