Suggestions for the best driver performance version

Discussion in 'Videocards - NVIDIA GeForce Drivers Section' started by Deleted member 255716, Jul 5, 2017.

  1. Hi to everyone! I've got a brand new pc setup as you can see on the left of the page.
Which is the best and stable driver version for my Gigabyte Aorus 1080 Ti?

    Thanks

The vast majority of the time the latest driver is the best driver unless there is a specific issue that would affect your setup that doesn't have a hotfix available. Download the newest one and see if everything is working as it should.

Newest drivers are the fastest but they're chock full of issues.

I'm still stuck on 378.92 cause of the aforementioned.

Also depends on config and windows version. I have a buddy with a similar rig to mine who had all the same issues as I with them. He rolled back to anniversary and with the same drivers he has no issues.

CU is a mistake of a mess and drivers written to pander to it doesn't help.

Currently I'm on the latest 'stable' quadro drivers... (377.48)

Gotta love the 'better iq and stability' placebo effect! LOL

But seriously, IQ is better, specially on a 4k 10 bit display. Latest nvidia drivers are really poor for IQ, both in 2d and 3d.

Care to back that bold claim up with some comparison images? Yeah, that's what I thought.

if you have problems with the newest drivers (mentioned before) stick with 378.92. other than that, always install the latest version. I've been installing latest drivers since they came out and haven't encountered a problem yet.

just install and use the last driver

people always saying the last driver is **** and driver before are amazing

example... today saying about 382.xx drivers are disastrous and recommend install 378.xx drivers

in 2 months when nvidia release 385.xx drivers... the same people says 385.xx drivers are horrible and recommend you install 382.xx drivers

Well, did you actually READ what I wrote? There was a word PLACEBO on it.

Also it MAY have something about the fact I have a 10/12 bit TV and I want to have it's full IQ.... But that is another story... :)

I recommend reading stuff before being a jerk :)

Bro, you call it a Placebo effect and go on in the next sentence about how Image Quality is seriously better. At this point I might ask, do you even read your stuff yourself?

I'm still on 378.92 on my GTX 1060 as well. The newer ones had ZERO benefit for me and I had "driver stopped responding and recovered" nonsense (in Windows 10, not 7). 378.92 is just as fast and no issues for me. Anyway, so if the latest don't make your toes twinkle for some reason...378.92 seems to be the last "old faithful driver".

4-Way SLI is asking for issues.

Using the latest Driver here with minimalistic install (2 folders) and zero issues.

If they really do have Quad-SLI, I would probably recommend a clean install of Windows before every single driver update. Both scenarios, clean installing before the update and Quad-SLI itself are equally ridiculous. :p

Next WHQL will fix the issue you mentioned.

I do not think any of the 37x.xx drivers has Quake Champions optimizations?
