    Nice Hilbert.
I'm still seeing some issues with Ryzen balanced power settings compared to high power setting in my Win 10 setup. R5 1600X, AsRock X370 Taichi 2x8gb Corsair LPX 3200mhz ram, 1Tb Mushkin Reactor SSD, Creative ZX soundcard and RX 580.

When set at Ryzen balanced power, I have hitches and pauses every 15-45secs associated with the SSD approaching 100% disc usage, these disappear when I have power settings set to high.

Have you experienced this or have any idea why this is occurs???

    Thats weird.

Aside from memory swap testing on the ASUS hero board all these tests have been performed on an ASRock board. I have not seen any behavior like you mentioned and am using the Ryzen optimized setting.

For an SSD to reach 100% usage massive amounts MB/s need to be written, you probably are better off looking for the cause of what software in fact is writing that much data every 45 seconds. The application causing it should see increased CPU activity which you can track with the task manager.

So G-Skill is not doing to good still. That is odd as they are one of the largest memory suppliers.

hmmm, I need to comment on that. I have a large number of GSKILL DIMMs, less from the others. So for each 5 GSKILL kits tested I have say 1 from Corsair.

Ergo that is why you see less GSKILL kits pass. Secondly the majority of G.Skill kits are beyond 3200 MHz (which is not supported by XMP in AGESA 1006) and then some of them are 2015 DIMMs. It's clear that AMD has been focusing on the newer memory types for support.

As far as the FlareX Ryzen memory goes, I need to further check as the memory might be broken, on the Asrock setup it even reported back as single channel somehow.

I've already looked: not seeing anything unusual, just usual windows processes. I've refreshed Windows and performed clean install, used the complete AMD motherboard drivers that are posted on ASRocks support site as well as the ones on AMD's website. I have no issues in Device manager and have not been able to trouble shoot the issue. The SSD is working fine and in good condition according to the SSD software that I am using, so I assumed that it may have been an issue with Ryzen balanced setting!!!

If you are not seeing any issues then perhaps the issue is limited to my system....

I guess that I will just have to run at high power for now to avoid this issue.

    Cheers.

I would look into what is writing that much into your SSD before it fails. Be sure to optimize your system for an SSD: disable indexing, disable defrag, etc.

Thanks for this update review Hilbert.

My experience is weird, with Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 with kind of old BIOS it works with XMP 3200 profile but I can't get any overclock in BIOS, with Ryzen Master however the overclock is stable with 4Ghz at 1.4V. With new BIOS version with 1.0.0.6 AGESA XMP Profile doesn't work... Hopefully it will get sorted out in future.

I've got to change my RAM, the GSkill TridentZ 2800 stuff isn't playing nicely :bang:

Thats why i buy from companies that actually manufacture things as opposed to rebranders like G.Skill, Corsair, etc.

Wasn't GSKILL one of the main partners for AMD and Ryzen support as well? Or am I making that up?

    Great review as always
When you have the time, could you test the 1%, 0.1% lows in some game(Rise of the tomb raider seems to be the most affected by the M speeds) with the different memory speeds to see if it has any effect?

MSI hasn't updated firmwares to AGESA 1006 yet.

Thanks to Hilbert for the analysis. I have bought a 3200 MHz kit and really the 50% price premium gives you ~10 FPS at best, at some scenarios. If gaming is the primary usage, such RAM kits are more like pc parts porno – nice to have in the case, but the money could be spent elsewhere. IMHO.

    Could confirm this one Hilbert

My Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 4x8GB memory rated at 15-17-17-35 doesn't
want to boot at CL15, always goes to 16. CL14 Results in 2133 safeboot.

Hilbert, you dont happen to have any Kingston HyperX Predator ram kits to test do you? :)

Also still holding out for an MSI bios update on AGESA 1006. MSI seems to be slow with these updates on the AM4 platform. ASRock seems to be leading the charge with the best overall experience with their board features and bios updates- from what I have seen.

U save some by choosing a R7 1700, you lose some on faster RAM.

I found I am 99.9 percent stable at 3200, after the computer being on a day doing encoding with a complex script it would partially freeze. Even with higher timings no go. At 3066 it's 100 percent good with 15-14-14-14-35 timings, and Twcl as 14 (Tcl-1).
