I see that nvidia only supports 32 custom resolutions, I need way more for my rgb crt with mame. Is there any way to override that, any workaround?
CRT monitor for use in MAME (the arcade emulator.) Many arcade games run weird custom modes (57.889Hz or something weird like that.) If you "reclock" these games to 60Hz, they might run too fast, or the audio is slightly off, or it looks different. So in general, for a perfect 1:1 reproduction of the arcade machine, you need a CRT monitor with the exact mode the game uses. Anyway, to answer the question, there doesn't seem to be a way to extend the amount of supported modes, unfortunately. If you can live without a CRT, you can use a G-Sync or FreeSync LCD monitor and get the correct automatic refresh rate for each game. Here's a good video explaining why VRR technology (like G-Sync and FreeSync) help with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CeZ0xbtfDo But yeah, you would be required to give up on the CRT There's some people who got FreeSync working on old CRTs, but it's not guaranteed to work: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=410187 https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/56p2mo/annoucing_freesync_over_hdmi_and_some_dvi_on_non/ (You obviously need an AMD graphics card to even attempt this. FreeSync is only supported by AMD.)
Besides custom refresh rates I also need proper horizontal resolutions. And about giving up on crt, not a chance: I´d rather grab a fury, crt emudriver and a dac, their driver can handle 60 custom modes and offers a mighty dynamic modeline feature. This bro:
OK, maybe this will work: Try removing all your custom resolutions from the nvidia control panel, and instead use CRU (this is an EDID override/editor tool.) https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU Add extension blocks in CRU with your custom modes. Maybe this will allow for more modes. You might want to post in the above URL and ask ToastyX directly if that's possible with NVidia. He would probably know the answer to that.
I tried that but it allows only 3 blocks with 6 resolutions each, I´m gonna ask toastyx anyway, thanks.
