Noctua D15S it's the only option really. Though the regular D15 is a tad better but not $15 better.

    Hi there

I would say NH-D15 is bit better than D15S as D15 does come with two fans and in tests seems is around 4-5°C better as well

What I like on D15S is PCI_E offset base which offers better clearance of the PCI_E like is on X99 where usually D15 will cover first PCI_E slot

Have used D15 and must admit this cooler cooled my i7-5820k around the same as my custom water loop

But in his case I would delid chip as first and then get best cooler on market which are Noctua or Cryorig right now

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

This option proved invaluable to me as I have a pcie x1 slot in that area. All other (pcie x16) slots on my board cause audio drop-outs with my sound card. The x1 slot is only one that doesnt.

The D15s is only 2c higher at load than D15 with 2 fans:

But you have option of adding an extra fan to match the D15 if needed. And yes, delidding is recommended when OC'ing a 7700k.

    Into the Vortex!!

Swiftech MCX478-V - Just slap a 92mm Vantec Tornado fan on top of it and you're ready to rumble. Just remember to nail your case/desk down and tons and tons of sound absorbent materials.

You can add the second fan to the D15S if needed they send you extra clips with the kit. Considering the D15S is nearly inaudible. Also Most reviews I've seen show less than 3C difference from the D15. Like I said the D15 is better just not $15 better.

    Hi there

NH-D15S is great cooler and offset base is plus like in yours case
I've done few tests on my NH-D15 like with single fan, dual fans and then several fans which I tried like Thermalright TY-143 or TY-147A and in my case difference between the single and dual fan has been around 2-3°C

Personally I like TY-143 or TY-147A which have nicer sound profile than NF-A15 mainly above 1000RPM

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

Yes off course you can add extra fan or you can buy extra NF-A15 fan later on but extra fan wil cost you extra £19-£25

Yup in most of the tests you will see smaller differences in temperatures between the single or dual fans and NH-D15 and NH-D15S

I've done several tests on my NH-D15 with several fans and several configurations like single, dual fan and tri fan setup and in my case dual fan has been one of best performing configuration on 5820k and best fans has been in m case TY-143 and TY-147A from Thermalright

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

D15s all the way, if you want some numbers :

    IDLE (35% fan) : Cores, 32-36°C
    Stress (60% fan) : Cores, 61-67°C
Load (50% fan, gaming on a kinda CPU reliant Tales of Zestiria) : Core 1 (95%), 57-59°C / Other cores, 45-49°C

Ambiant temperature around 32°C (outside was 27 but it's much hotter inside my room).

    @4.6ghz

PS : Didn't include the package temperature because there might be something wrong with my readings.
