So, Coffee Lake i5's still no 4c/t8?

Going to need 4Ghz RAM to feed those 6 cores to avoid GPU bottlenecks for 1080P high refresh HZ...

Going to laugh if Intel doesn't plan to give an HT version of that proc on Z370 also.

Though that would make sense, why does it matter? There's finally going to be a 6-core model. Too bad for Intel, it's too late for me. I wanted a 6-core i5 maybe 4 years ago.

That is a lot lower than current gen 6c aka 6800k

    Result ID

That's an overclocked 12 thread CPU you are comparing to a standard clocked 6 thread CPU.

I'd personally rather get 6 real cores than 4 with HT. I reckon the mainstream i7 will then give you that 6c/12t.

What does this line have to do with OC? And don't tell me that hyperthreading doubles the performance of a CPU.

If this cpu performs well enough it might finally give me a real reason to upgrade from my 4690K and Z97 motherboard! Keeping my fingers crossed :)

In this synthetic yes HT does. Compare it to a 7600k.

    3570k i5
    3770k i7

Not really. Even with synthetics, HT provides 50-60% boost. Why go back to Ivy, 7700k and 7600k have 58% HT advantage in SiSoft Sandra. What we saw is 6800k is, ~90% ahead of this 6Core. So yeah.

You are just digging yourself deeper here. Cut your losses bud.

Edit: (To give you some numbers)
    7700k 121.78 MPix/s/GHz
    7600k 76.63 MPix/s/GHz

    Improvement over 7600k= (121.78-76.63)/76.63 = 58.9%

I went to Ivy because finding anything on SiSoft's web site is nearly impossible. those were the first two of the same generation I could find.

They show a larger spread in performance.

This is just a relevant as you comparing Broadwell to Coffee Lake. Also who is to say the bench run with the Coffee lake i5 is accurate the bench may not be utilizing the new CPU correctly for all we know. Best to wait till we see these chips in the wild.
