the upcoming action sequel to the 1987 original will be delayed until august 2018, but i believe a bland cast that was selected for this film is not gonna help the cause, the film is said to have a larger scale than the first film but im not sure how director shane black is gonna capture the atmosphere, the music and the whole premise again, i would certainly hopr he will.
Seems to me for once the old franchise is in ULTIMATE hands with a writer/director who knows EXACTLY what made the original movie tick, as he himself was in it and hired to rewrite it if deemed necessary (which he didn't...not to mention he told all the pussy jokes in Predator personally LOL). And that budget...$150M-200M without a $100M cast. Paul Verhoeven made Starship Troopers entertaining with baby-faced airheads like Denise Richards and Casper van Dien in it (Jake Busey angle there...also in The Predator and not exactly bland, anything but bland actually). And holy crap...van Dien's in Alita: Battle Angel, which is apparently in post-production with Robert Rodriguez directing Jim Cameron's screenplay!!! Slated for a July 2018 release and also on a rumored $200M budget. Damn, next year's Summer's going to be nothing but a long wait until those movies come out. DECADES must have passed since the Jim Cameron doing Alita rumor spread.
Whyyyyyyyy is Hollywood so stupid? Its getting beyond ridiculous now.. rehashing every older or classic movie.. You can't possibly make it any better and it will certainly be far worse than the original. They already crashed and burned with Predator 2.. just let it GO.
lol, you make it sound like you'll be strapped down to a chair in the cinema and made by force to watch it.
Hollywood has always remade older movies. It is just a matter of how long to wait till a remake is made. There are too many examples to list. TOTAL RECALL was redone, They have already rebooted 007. SPIDERMAN is do yet for a second reboot. The recent MAGNIFICENT SEVEN was originally with Yul Brynner which was a retelling of 1954's SEVEN SAMURAI. PLANET OF THE APES is another example. DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY was remade into MEET JOE BLACK. 1941's HERE COMES MR. JORDAN was remade into HEAVEN CAN WAIT. The list goes on and on and on. Not all remakes are as good or better than the original. It's only a matter of time before DIRTY HARRY is remade.
What about Predators. That was pretty close in terms of tone to the original movie. Is this movie meant to be a reboot or a bona fide sequel?
Yeap King Kong...How many times will he climb the same building?? Maybe try climbing Tescos or Walmart next.
