The Joker is behind bars. It’s a storyline that could be straight out of the comic books.

Yet in Winchester, Virginia, it's a true story.

Local police said they arrested a man dressed like the famous comic book villain – decked out in a cape and carrying a sword.

Police spokesperson Jennifer Hall said the department received several 911 calls Friday afternoon reporting a man made up as Batman’s nemesis.

Thirty-one-year-old Jeremy Putman was arrested and charged with wearing a mask in public, a felony in the state of Virginia that can result in a year in jail.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Putman has a lawyer.

Your Thoughts on this/ Did he break any Laws?

Wearing a mask illegal... i guess Batman won't be showing up to question him.

Seriously though, seems like it's makeup, not a "mask" so i must be missing something. If makeup is a mask how are 99% of women walking around free in that state?

    dildo?....let me think about it.

Nope...That would come under the first.

Third amendment = No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

Wearing a mask by itself is not a crime. And no carrying a sword is not protected by the 2nd amendment. In Virginia it is illegal to carry a bladed weapon over a certain length. 4 inches I believe. It is also a crime to wear a mask while committing another crime. I think they are considered robbery paraphernalia at that point.

Yeah, that's nonsense. It's Virginia though so I guess I have to suspend my disbelief.

Only in America could people think that this behaviour was acceptable and that he "shouldn't" be locked up

Would you want this guy walking around carrying a sword whilst you were out with your children?!!

You can walk around with an (unloaded) rifle over your shoulder, or a loaded handgun on your hip. A sword doesn't scare me, or anyone over here.

That's a silly argument. Walk down the street with it in your hand and see what happens.

The fact that you are from Washington DC and don't know constitutional rights is what questions me?

Disorderly conduct is all he did wrong/can be charged with.

What does where I live have to do with anything? By that logic should I immediately disregard all of your political opinions because you don't live here?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-mask_laws

Just because you don't know about a law or don't agree with a law doesn't mean it isn't valid. Places all over the world have these laws, it isn't just VA. It has nothing to do with his constitutional rights.
