There is something I am missing. For example, the firmware the article links to for the R7000 is version 1.0.5.70 from November 2016 but the most recent firmware for that model is version 1.0.7.6 from December (the one that fixes the famous vulnerability VU 582384).
I am not 100% sure, but I think the v1.0.7.6 carries all the fixes in v1.0.5.70 and adds more. In that case, people should upgrade to v1.0.7.6
Am I wrong about this? Is there something wrong with v1.0.7.6 so we sould downgrade to 1.0.5.70?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you have any of these that is compatible with OpenWRT, just switch to a proper OS for your routers guys. OpenWRT+SQM Scripts, never look back.
