Back in December a vunerability has been exposed on Netgear routers. Most routers already had firmware updates available and most of them can be updated. However Both Netgear and Cert now again issue ... Netgear router owners please update your firmware
What is Netgear doing to fix failed driver intallation and inabiIity to create hotspot with Netgear A6210? https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Adapters/A6210-cannot-create-wireless-hotspot/td-p/1060711
There is something I am missing. For example, the firmware the article links to for the R7000 is version 1.0.5.70 from November 2016 but the most recent firmware for that model is version 1.0.7.6 from December (the one that fixes the famous vulnerability VU 582384). I am not 100% sure, but I think the v1.0.7.6 carries all the fixes in v1.0.5.70 and adds more. In that case, people should upgrade to v1.0.7.6 Am I wrong about this? Is there something wrong with v1.0.7.6 so we sould downgrade to 1.0.5.70? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hilbert linked the wrong pages. This one you want for the R7000 --> http://kb.netgear.com/000036470/R7000-Firmware-Version-1-0-7-6 And here is the site listing Firmware for all devices regarding this issue --> http://kb.netgear.com/000036386/CVE-2016-582384
If you have any of these that is compatible with OpenWRT, just switch to a proper OS for your routers guys. OpenWRT+SQM Scripts, never look back.
