i was hearing about the 7700k CPU's having bad TIM i am going to be making a new PC and i am going to want to OC it do need to be scared of this thermal compound there using?
^ What he said, just don't expect high OC above 4.7 - 4.8GHz with ok temps. This Skylake/KabyLake looks just like Haswell heat wise if not even worse. Skylake Oc'ed like crap, very rare above 4.6ghz with ok volts/temps, KabyLake what Devils Canyon was to Haswell.. Still hot though, but tiny bit better OC'er, 4.7 - 4.8Ghz on average instead of 4.4-4.6Ghz like by normal Haswell.
Stock = fine OC to around 4.8 = ~82deg max with a good cooler (AIO/Water - air might be higher) (which is fine)
ok I am switching it up from an IXT setup to a ATX on the Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 and run water... with some thing like Corsair Hydro Series H115i... so then i should be good. i got the Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 already
I just purchased a I7-7700K and I have the Cooler Master Liquid Pro even thou this CPU runs very hot my overclock is solid @ 4.8 GHZ. The CPU was purchased from New Egg retail also running in GigaByte AORUS Gaming 7 Z270 motherboard with bios version F4I.
Ok well i work in a CNC shop so i may make a tool to delid the 7700k... all my stuff is going to be purchased from Newegg.com as well the CPU, MB, and RAM will be purchased in April.. the CPU cooler will be purchased next month..
Nice. See how you get on temps wise first once you have your CPU and go from there, every setup will be slightly different temps wise. With my setup, I could easily stay @ 4.8 and not bother with de-lidding, but I am as I wish to push it further.
Hey MKube402 Sharing my experience with the 7700k and temps so far: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=5383214&postcount=39
I have the i7 7700k and a Corsair H115i. Temps are very good. Not bad at all. Just started OC'ing but things are shaping up nicely, have it to a stable 4.8GHz right now without even touching the voltage. But yes, this proc will require a little more attention to thermals. :dave:
