As the holidays are approaching from all aroung we are getting bombed with all kinds of smells. Probably most intesive "smelly" months (in a good way) are 2nd part of December and 1st half of January, at least here, but what about other smells you like or your favorite but smell you almost forgot about? Last hour or so I've been doing some wood work, drilling a housing for ball bearing, part if the project I'm working on for past few days to make a huge motor controlled disco ball for room of my younger twins, you know, surround sound, colorful flashy lights, stobe lights, disco ball...etc. I was drilling a hole in a piece of wood, wood begins to smoke... ...and overwhelmed by the smell of the smoking wood suddenly I had blast from the past, somewhere from the deeps of my mind here comes a part if my childhood when my long time gone uncle was doing his carpenter work, doing his magic while shaping the wood, me standing next to him, all that smell of freshly cutted and drilled/half-burned wood around us... So, what's your favorite smells gurus? Or some smell you liked when you were a kid but completely forgot about? I have few of them but, that one above is one of my top 3, a bit later few others will come, now it's your turn...
Coffee being brewed, roast beef, almond extract, but my favorite smell is the total absence of any. I hate air fresheners and even scented candles make me choke.
The smell of a brand new PSU (any hardware, but PSUs the most). I usually either don't like or am made sick by chemical smells, but I love that particular odor. The smell of the water around you when you haven't been near a lake, let alone on a boat for ages. Wood smoke, apple orchards, cows, fresh baked bread, and many more smells of my childhood (that is sadly becoming a lost way of life here in the USA).
The smell of new creosote-treated wooden railway sleepers. And when linden blossom. And of dust nailed by the first raindrops.
Freshly cut grass. The smell of opening up the fireplace insert door when adding a new log to the fire The smells while hiking through a pine forest New audio equipment smell (electronics in general)
I love the smell of weed. Even though i havent smoked for years it really really smells great. Also the smell of new hardware somewhat is pleasant Someone baking bread is also awesome
Kettle corn....my wife!.....racing fuel mixed with bean oil from a speedway bike, Jawa.... Good food.
Haha, nice thread! Lots already been mentioned like brewing coffee and new hardware As OP I also like the smell of burning wood when being worked on but also burning metal so to speak, ie smell of steel being welded. Also tobacco, meaning tobacco as in a roll-your-own pouch, not someone smoking. I smoked for years myself but always disliked the smell of someone else smoking for some reason.
Ardbeg Uigeadail... saving a nice bottle for the holidays here for my wife and I. First year were gonna be away from her family so its truly a time to celebrate, lol. That and a nice cigar and fresh chopped firewood.
My grandfather used to smoke a cherry-flavored tobacco in his pipe. I used to love the smell of the unburnt stuff.
