Your mom can be removed from it. That's usually the first POS thing I take out of the package before I install it. Don't want my computer catching anything.

Doing that negates "ansel" too?, next time I want to do a clean driver install, last time I catched that mofo quickly and sneakily installing itself.

Ansel is a part of GFE.
If you don't install GFE you don't have access to that feature.

it still installs itself without GFE picked during installation, or at least that's what the installer suggests as it's doing it's thing. near the end of the installation it always says "installing ansel..."

and inspector shows it at ON in the global profile.

not sure if the same happens with the manual method, as I don't do it now that they've stopped installing NV backend when using the official install method and selecting only driver+physx.

No need to delete anything, as it wont install anything you don't select during install.

Too much paranoia going on here.

Incorrect, it installs several things that are not able to opt out of in custom installation.

No, it's not. Ansel is working fine without GFE installed.

Removing these is asking for trouble as NV's driver team assume that they are present.

can we get more detail on this with relation to the latest set?

I just did a 376.19 install today, simply selected driver+phsyx, and i'm not seeing anything extra that was installed, like it was with the drivers sets in the past.

let's compare, your manual install with my default installer driver+phsyx only.

If you want, that is :)

    I got this.

    services: nvidia display container LS.

    running procceses: NvDisplay.container.exe
    nvsdsync.exe

    and this in autoruns

I'm guessing the telemetry stuff is what they sneak in

But it's fun watching the endless supply of problems that "advanced" users get when they attempt to slim down an install that is only bloated by the fact that it has basically nonexistent processes that install and run taking up virtually no resources except barely 1% of a competent users CPU/RAM usage.

I install the driver package as-is (custom install and de-select GFE, 3D Vision) and afterwards disable those tasks from Task Scheduler.

the profile updater is pretty useful. it will actually grab up to date game profiles for newer games all in the magical background land hidden from view :D

For example, I installed the 373.06 drivers when people said they improve dishonored 2 performance (placebo, as expected, dunno why I fell for it) and upon installation, there was no profile for the game. after a reboot, it was there.

Actually I just thought about that while writing, whether the profile updater would be handy.
Surely convenient not always having to install newer drivers for profiles only.
