Magician 5 is out with a new Win10 look: http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools.html RAPID mode won't work anymore on systems with AMD chipsets? :bang: Was working fine with 4.9.7. I get the message: RAPID mode CANNOT be enabled. (AMD chipset controller)
Can't find any options for securing and/or encrypting my 750EVO after installing Magician 5.0.0. The option for configuring over-provisioning from within Magician has also disappeared. EDIT: Nothing lost there :nerd:
There's now no option for me to set overprovisioning , I have two 500gb 850 evo drives not in raid , i suppose that the overprovision isn't needed anymore with these drives or i'm sure it would be in the software , also there's no way to disable the superfetch and prefetch from within the magician software anymore so have to do it manually now as well .
Works properly with win10 14393? Just check if it is reporting AHCI status correctly to verify. Any point to install this btw? There was a f/w update for the 850 pro but I don't really know how or if it will benefit my drive.
That happened to me initially with my EVO 840's (1TB/250GB). If you google on the issue you will find a solution as it's happened to others who are using Magician 5. It doesn't have all the options as Magician 4, but they did say they would be adding additional features.
I would recommend you keep using 4.9.7 until Samsung adds OP. That's if they plan on doing it at all.
Why so many companies keep removing features and "improving" the UI, trying to convince us it's a major improvement? Did smartphones make everyone dumber? Samsung Magician 5 is plain horrible. You might as well consider another company for your next SSD purchase, it's that bad.
Now my curiosity has been peeked. Going to have to install this version to see what it is like. Ever since my SSD locked up, I have stuck with version 4.5 after Particle Magic breathed the life back into it. That version still states that it is the latest version when checking for updates. My 850 EVO works fine without the need to update it. Just curious now...how awful can the UI be? Will I be clawing my eyes out?
The UI isn't really that bad (I wasn't complaining about the UI), the problem is that there's isn't much else to do apart from looking at it.
Yup...same boat. Reverted to the earlier version and disabled the OP. IMO, it isn't needed with the write endurance of the 850 Pro. My 512GB Crucial M4 is almost 2 years old and it's still sitting at 99%.
So uninstall 5.0 and install of 4.9.7 went painless. Then I will be reverting too. And regarding Ui, someone asked.. I have to break my fingers and squint my eyes to reach other disks in my sistem with this new UI
Same here Rapid mode wont work on AMD chipset... worked fine on 4.9.7 I was gonna update but now i gotta roll back.
Reverted to 4.9.7 as well. Hopefully AMD chipsets will be supported with the new X3xx chipsets and not being a lame Intel vendor lock in.
I've been ignoring the notice about a new version when I reboot I guess I will continue doing so lol.
