I'm on a i7 950 bloomfield i think, and wondering if going to a 6100 i3 would make since for gaming mostly. Having issues with 1366 mobo sound.
Hi there Did you thinking get something like us Xeon X5670 or X5650 which can be OC up to 4.2GHz on air and temps still will be lower than with i7-950 Have run X5670 with 4.2GHz OC and has been awesome machine,no issues in gaming etc If you have issue with audio, then I would external sound card or get another sound card which still will cost you less than getting new mobo and i3-6100 etc Not sure if I would get i3-6100 Hope this helps Thanks,Jura
Better to buy a sound card rather than buying a processor also you need a new motherboard to pair that i3 6100
What about your current sound card? Also, if you are into gaming, you should buy a gpu instead of cpu.
Sorry for slow reply- I had a stroke and don't remember things as good as I did. I have a Auzentech Forte sound card. But something is wrong with my current mobo. When it is in- I get a clicking and can't talk in teamspeak. I tried other headphones and get the same effect. I also get little ripples on my screen while scrolling in a browser. I figure it's something to do with the north bridge. But I am not a tech by any means. I know enough to mess stuff up LOL. I was thinking the i3 upgrade so I can get into a newer technology. x58 is kinda old. But my GF's is older. So she would get this one and I could eventually change out the cpu to a i5 or i7 as money lets me. At some point I would like to get a better resolution moniter= 1440 instead of 1080. Even 4k if I can find one cheap enough. Right now I am on a 670 GTX FTW seems to do ok for the games I play.
So you get clicking on onboard as well? Have you tried moving sound card into a different slot. Make sure you are on the latest bios
A $70 X5650 would beat it with a better TDP as well. A X5650 @ 4.5ghz equals a 5930k at stock clocks.
+1 I would go too with X5650 or if he wants slightly better chip then X5670 is one awesome chip, have run X5670 and been very happy with this chip Thanks,Jura
