1st gtx 580 died within two days of buying/playing elite d 2nd gtx 580 just died within the same time frame of buying/playing Horizons. W.t.... *#Bane #We'reGoinMobile* I guess an upgrade is happening sooner rather than later. Ive a got an offer for an msi gtx 970 for nz$300. Im not looking to max anything as outside of deus ex, theres not much grabbing my interest going foward and im still at 1080p with the odd dsr to 1440p. Worth it..?
Nz $650+ is anything pascal. $899 is the 1070, 1300 for the 1080. I cant justify those prices for what amounts to a toy, really. When do non Founder editions come out. August?
Unless your wanting to get VR, if not then 980ti for sure. Pascal non-founders out now I thought?
Nah, no vr for me. DOESNT interest me yet as im waiting on games and hardware to mature. Excuse the caps, on mobile now and cant be bothered fighting with my phone to correct.
Yeah vr in its current state seems like its still in the honeymoon period and that people might soon decide its just like bluray 3d - Fun... but man i dont want things stuck to my face for playing games.
I'm going to go with bad luck. I had two standard GTX580's die on me around the same time (they were only about 18 months to 2 years old). Replaced them with two MSI lightning edition cards - both are still going. I'd recommend getting a 980Ti, a single 970 will give you less performance than GTX580 SLI - whereas a single 980Ti gives you more performance.
Yeah go for a 980 Ti its the best card without going to the next architecture. The only thing about VR that caught my eye was a Star Trek style game where you get to be the captain of the Enterprise. Other than that VR does not interest me. I think of bad luck because you had issues before with your 580s before. Plus the 580s are old cards.
Its strange though that within two days both 580's die. What about getting a midrange card, save up and later this year buy a higher end Pascal card. How much does rx480 an gtx1060 cost in NZ?
Agree with others.. 980ti is a much better choice then worth extra 200nz. Especially once you start to OC it. Pretty much any 980ti can do 1400mhz oc and that makes a huge difference vs stock. Pascal doesn't gain that much with oc. Great review with custom factory oc 1430mhz 980ti. http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Nvidi...als/GTX-1070-Benchmarks-Test-Preis-1196360/2/
The gigabyte sc 980ti im looking at mentions having a Asic score of 69.4%. What is this and is still worth a purchase?
Funny to read this boobies, my 580 has given up it's stability two weeks ago too... may they rest in peace.
Mate, what a chip, right? Cannot beleive they lasted as long as they did in not only lifetime but also performance wise. Easily the most impressive gpu ive owned in that regard.
It only showed it's life because of me being to stubborn to turn down settings, was still desperately playing BF4 on ultra / 1080p with my Lightning XE card, even paid back then for the extra double vram, imho it paid off. Brings me back to once again want the top notch card rather than SLI the next time around... good memories, never felt betrayed or anything although it was expensive
