Looks like ill go for the 1070 once the non FEs arrive, im over 1080p gaming with the lack of proper AA solutions in games now.

Quite a bit faster in few titles and quite a bit slower in few titles then competitor. Pretty equal all in all.

    Didn't test doom in vulkan?

Ah 2050mhz 1060 and rx 480 @ 1375 are even more even nice.

    Seems to perform as expected.

If they can get stock in, especially with AIB cards, they should be able to steal some thunder from the RX480, which still seems to be out of stock in the US (http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/amd/rx480/)

I'd like to see Doom Vulkan tested.

Thanks for the effort. It's time to read:D
Oh cmon, it can't run witcher 3 at 60fps :wanker:
Great TDP. Less than 480. And it's faster :nerd:

Im sure it can in a couple of months time with Driver Optimizations.

Also those results are Stock Clocks, so it will go above 60 when OCed no doubt.

Shame the Vulkan version of DOOM wasn't tested.
    Paints a very different picture.

Similiar performance to the rx480 in 1080p. Seems like in 1440p 480 pulls ahead (1060 may be bandwidth starved). I would like to see more dx12 testing, benchmarking as well as Vulcan in Doom.

It will come to pricing in and availability for each card.

HH, in whole review you didnt mention that FE will cost 299$ not 249$.

I assume its because OpenGL is neutral between green and red, kinda like how H tests games with PhysX off.

To be fair the AIBs at that price point (249$) are better.

Hardware unboxed on YT reported it performs bad in Doom using Vulcan, its even below gtx970. Strange he said, probably driver issue or just bad performer.

Come on HH, Vulcan test when you have time. :p

Using the Vulkan API wouldn't be neutral how?

Really? Because last I checked it was developed by the Khronos group.
AMD donated the Mantle spec and Khronos (with its many members, including NVIDIA) made it so that it would work with as much hardware as possible.

The CEO of Khronos group is an Nvidia employee.

Vulkan is fine, the Doom implementation is really good, it should be tested. The only argument I could see someone make is that it should be restested when the Async patch for Pascal comes out.

Its a future of API's. Keep up or move aside.

From what I gather 1060 does not gain from Vulkan. So if one uses Vulkan AMD wins that one, not sure if there will be a patch to boost nvidias performance there tho.

    BTW on Vulkan.

It's been busy, VERY busy with graphics card releases and reviews. Give an old man some rest !! :)

No it didn't even cross my mind as the game is an OpenGL title, Vulkan is in dev stages and in one game as early beta implementation. Perhaps in a later stage I'll look into adding it into the benchmark suite, but the previous results we did on Doom / Vulkan shower NIL perf increase from Geforce Cards though a nice perf increase for GCN based AMD card. I promise I will look into it once things settle down..
