The embargo has been lifted, join us as we review the Polaris GPU based Radeon RX 480. These puppies perform really well and will be rather affordable at 220 EURO for the 4 GB models with 260 EURO for... Radeon RX 480 8GB reference review
First impression, not that bad for $200 - $250, that competes with 970/980. Card price is where it supposed to be. No surprise magic in price or performance. Still a bit underwhelming, considering opponent cards are about to get 2 years old. So... performance is between 970 and 980. We have 970 for $239 and 980 for $549 (release price). This is might be somewhat good GPU for HD resolution, but by far not enough if we talk 120/144 fps. So yeah 480 is an option for people who upgrade from ancient GPUs for HD monitor. AMD have to stabilize shops prices asap according to "release price", so 480 will be picked before 970 and 980. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units#GeForce_900_Series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Radeon_RX_400_Series
2nd lol Edit: both guru3d and techpowerup have some server issues. But from what i saw so far up to stock Fury perf. Just like that 3dmark11 gpu score leak.
Let's say the RX480 in terms of performance is exactly the same with GTX970 whilst the price is about 200/220 Euros. Indisputably it's no-brainer. RX480 incorporates all true DX12 with much newer architecture, even less power consumption and even more DX12 features. A true future-proof card. First time I consider to go Red. Not to mention the additional advantages in DX12 features whilst it's a true Console-like card. I'm extremely optimistic. I'll buy one in order to familiar my self with Red and if a card with HMB2 (8GB) comes out early next year, it will be my 2nd Red card.
yep, adding a 4th front-end server to load-balancing got it running again. If you feel the forums are getting slower, now you know which server was added
Kinda disappointed with performance, also poor OC capabilities.. waiting for 1060 reviews and then i'll decide my next GPU..
very nice review. i like the very wide game choice this time! and the 3dmark oc graph 200-250$ for a card that settles around 980, Nano, Fury, 390X 400-500$ for it in crossfire that beats single GTX1080 by far i cant stop laughing at all the people who tried to badtalk this card. (and still try to)
First of all, very well written review HH. Was enjoying reading it. Great little card. Nice boost from Tahiti/Tonga users. I must say card performance little bit slower than i expected but also less priced. I would never say im dissapointed. In few instances it matches even 390X/gtx980. AMD kept what they said, priced respectively at 200-250Eur. (not like nvidia). 1375mhz overclock isnt that bad also. I guess HH got somewhat better sample than some.
Disappointing, hoped for more! 8GB model €319 atm here https://www.alternate.nl/AMD/Grafische-kaarten/RX-480&utm_source=altactie&s2m_campaign=AMD+Portal
Yeah oc is a bit weak. REMOVED- guys come on, do you really need to insert competing website results into a Guru3D review thread ? Sometimes its between 980gtx and 980ti Sometimes between 780ti and Fury. Not bad for ~250€ though..
Yeah, all the problems of multi-gpu + 340W just to match a 1080, and that's just at stock. Wait till you OC to see wattage go way higher. This is basically less efficient than a 980
https://geizhals.eu/?cat=gra16_512&xf=1440_RX+480 8GB 264€ in UK, 278€ in Germany i dont have ANY problems with a rather old 270X cfx so why would there be problems with 480 cfx. if people cant configure their stuff properly. not my problem.
I wouldnt trust that first one, its a dodgy one. no reviews at all and its been there for a while now at that price. (since 1/6 lol)
