So I went to best buy over the weekend to buy Doom and ended up coming home with a gtx 1070 and a widescreen 2560x1080 monitor.

I'm having fun with doom, it's looks decent enough and plays kind of like serious sam, which is a nice change of pace from the seriousness of call of field duty battle 1942-2068.

So, I'm wondering if there are any graphical treats on PC? Like a steam indie title I'm missing.

I'm also considering Dark Souls 3 but I don't know how well I would do at that.

Currently playing or have played - Doom, Division (uninstalled), Unreal Tournament 4 pre-alpha, Star Wars Battlefront, Witcher 3/expansion and Trine 3.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a pretty game, also if you like RPG, maybe try Dragon Age Inquisition, another nice looking game.

Overwatch is also cute played at high frames with a lot going on.

    Congrats on the new gpu/monitor.

Star citizen, just personally curious how an 1070 will run an unoptomized game in alpha at that resolution :p.

ARMA 3 looks pretty good if you can max it, think it is on sale atm but arma series is not for everyone.

Be eaisier if they did not keep downgrading the gfx from e3 demos because most games do not look that much better than the last gen in many respects.

Haha, that sounds oddly familiar ;)

Pretty much what others have said, of new games ROTTR has very good graphics IMO.

Ofc Doom is also graphically solid.

Arkham Knight is also another great candidate. Especially if you can downsampled from 4k. It literally look like a full motion video.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, but it's a walking simulator.

  11. If you have not played Shadow Warrior (2013) with the DirectX 11 patch, I highly recommend doing so (very colorful with excellent lighting and lots of action); it runs a lot better and with a GTX 1070 you will have no issues running max at 60 or more @ 4K DSR.

Also, the Metro series are still very graphically pleasing, which you can probably run max (no SSAA needed) around 60 fps @ 4K DSR.

Playing Tomb Raider right now, great gameplay and awesome graphics. The developpers deserve every dollars i gave them.

    :nerd:

But indeed, best looking/demanding game right now are also Akham Knight, ARK, Anno 2070, Paragon, Star Citizen (at 4K it's stunning :p, careful it's in pre-alpha)

Doom is really the good surprise of 2016 so far for me. Unexpected cool game! Looks and run great.

If you are looking for a real-world graphical treat with immersive gameplay and accurate avionics & flight models then I really have to suggest DCS.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO2xLFyoq3A

It will take up much time, but on a nice system you can mod it and enjoy photorealistic VR even:

If you are only into shooters though...also not on your list: Arma 3, has some very good allround combat and also several funny custom modes.
But looks by far not as nice as DCS.

Function keys are for giving squad orders, r is for reload, c/x for crouch stand. etc, gets a hell of lot more complex you start adding ace mods and etc lol.

I'll add to the list. These all have some nice eye candy.

    Shadow of Mordor.
    Dying Light.
    Mirror's Edge
    Mad Max.
Assassins Creed Syndicate or Unity...even black flag.
    Need for Speed.
    Project Cars.
    Ryse.
    Alien Isolation.

Hard Reset? If you've never played it before, there's a Redux version that includes a katana (which is oddly underwhelming) and a dash (which is wonderfully game changing), which I'd recommend: fun, good-looking shooter.
