Went through it. Signatures looked OK on that what I checked. CNext has same package version as 16.6.1, but inside it looks like 16.5.2. Driver itself has only Legacy and Polaris 10 identification + installation procedures. That got me kind of confused as there were some hints we are going to see Polaris 11 (RX-460) too. Probably not. I wondered if AMD has some driver level improvements which they wanted to withhold from current owners for few more weeks. Did modify inf file and installed. Performs bit worse than 16.6.2, that's answer. CNext identifies itself as 16.5.2. And half of package has same versions as 16.6.1. So, 2D, 3D, OGL, OCL, Mantle are same. Driver package and CNext differ. And package includes Vulkan 9.1.0.10.13 (1.0.13.0). Driver either recognized that I actually have Fiji and did not show Overdrive for Polaris, or this driver does not have that new functionality.
There is something wrong with that package. I have access the last review drivers (that I will NOT share) since we have a Polaris GPU at Bits and Chips labs . it's better you wait for 2 days guys.
LOL  I will wait ! PS. I already know that Polaris in ~1300MHz performas better in Games than R390X and 980 ! So i will upgrade to this F.unker :flip2: Of course i want 1x8-pin OC GPU !
Well, In normal situation, people can't install this on GCN GPU. So masses have to wait. While I was not able to detect any malware or bitcoin miners, many things do not add up. Feels like Chimera. (Bitcoin miner would make no sense on driver which can't be installed on 99.9% of modern GPUs.)
Bitcoin mining no longer makes sense on a GPU anyway. Even if you get the GPU time for free with a malware, you should mine Ethereum (while it's price still defies gravity regardless of it's problems) or some fresh altcoin (no idea what's popular right now).
Yes, AMD mentioned in one of their YT videos that they are done with move from CCC to CNext. Hilbert tested RX-480 with 16.6.2. Has link into general driver section, but for some reason it is not there yet. AMD does not list RX *** category for now in driver selector.
