That's a damn shame. I might hold off on buying one unless I hear that's fixable through software. If that's a hardware issue, I might hold off all together.

Read, only on FE cards, and even then slim chance. Avoid taking risks in life for a while if you're in that select group.

I wonder if this affects Linux users too. I don't see why it wouldn't, but at least Linux users have an easy way of reverting the problem if they need to.

Can nvidia release something without hardware issue? New series of geforce gets released and something at least in one of them has to be broken.
Before buying new geforce wait month or two from release and then eventually buy it.

Though I've been buying AMD for the past few years, I can't say they're any better. The only difference is AMD suffers performance or visual issues rather than functionality issues.

This seems something very simple to fix through bios or driver update, maybe a little miss of QC before the launch but it is a very specific bug, nothing serious to me.. Nvidia have been in bigger issues and they have raised without problem, even than i know there have been other problems like this, i can't remember them jaja

With a fault like that, one can always return the product under warranty for another sample, which might work, or full refund.

Well, while I still use Dual Link DVI, it's on ancient 60Hz Dell U2711. So I'm good I guess, even though I won't buy a FE anyway so yeah.

What connection do those fancy modern g-sync 144Hz IPS use?

    No problem here

I have an Asus 1080 FE and Asus PG279Q using a DP connection with no issues. My card peaks at 1886MHz core clock with no OC.

I have gotten the flagship card each generation of Nvidia and the worst issue I've suffered is lack of SLI profiles upon the release date for the 680s.

    This is DVI related issue.

Whats funny though, I reported the DVI issue with 2560x1080 with my GTX 970s and Windows 10, and still never heard back.
HDMI and display port work perfect ofcourse.

I don't know if the issue effects DVI --> DP/HDMI cables. But it can potentially effect people running surround setups. I have 3 monitors and a TV connected to my 980 -- if I ever updated my surround monitors to 144hz displays, then I'd be screwed because at least one would have to go to DVI.

Yes because the TV is a 4K 60Hz display.
