OK, I rarely use Windows Media Player (v12.0.10011.16384) these days except if I need to re-enable media streaming but just recently it has started crashing around 30 seconds after opening it. This usually occurs while it is updating the media library (by the message that appears in the bottom-right of the window). I have used Program and Features to remove Windows Media Player, reboot then re-enable it but it still crashes. Weirdly, I managed to get it to stay open for a few minutes by clicking on Help > About Windows Media Player (likely because this causes the media updating to halt). This is the error: Faulting application name: wmplayer.exe, version: 12.0.10586.0, time stamp: 0x5632d75d Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.10586.306, time stamp: 0x571afb7f Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x000dc7c9 Faulting process ID: 0x760 Faulting application start time: 0x01d1cef90f8bf0ff Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report ID: e44d2893-35a9-4578-b3d9-00e8ab81260d Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
"Microsoft removed Windows Media Center from Windows 10, and there’s no official way to get it back. While there are great alternatives like Kodi, which can play and record live TV, the community has made Windows Media Center functional on Windows 10." Follow the directions on this site to get it working. http://www.howtogeek.com/258695/how-to-install-windows-media-center-on-windows-10/
ntdll is usually windows kernel fault, or even bad OC.. I remember you mentioned you have 4.2Ghz OC? Try this I also think you need to repair WMI, reregister/repair windows components and probably rebuild windows update (with win10manager its very easy). Sfc scan or image dism won't cure those errors. Wow thanks, Great find! I was really missing it and the way they replaced it with that win10 DVD player which in end got bugged by me with one win10 update and I then lost its WMC license.. EDIT: Just installed it and it works great in current win10 1151 10586.420. Thanks again!
@ Watcher - Windows Media Player not Windows Media Center! @ -Tj- - Thanks but I fixed it by deleting the WMP database and other files in the hidden AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Media Player folder and letting WMP rebuild my media libraries. Seems to be working OK now. P.S. I have a perfectly stable 4.0 GHz overclock using an adaptive voltage of 1.2 V.
Ah ok, good you fixed it.. Also sorry if I questioned your OC , was just making sure its not that. btw that's quite high for just 4ghz. You sure you need that much? Ok mine seems to be a bit better binned chip, but I need just 1.17v for 4.5Ghz.
Yeah, looks like have a crappy i7-4770K unfortunately. I tried 4.2 GHz with a voltage of 1.2 V and, while I can boot into Windows OK, it eventually blue screens. Alas, I am not knowledgable enough to know what else to tweak to get it stable but 1.2 V seems to 100% stable so far even when my CPU has been stressed near 100% for over an hour, for example when Acronis True Image is doing its monthly backup of my C: drive. Temperates are fine too, never exceeding 60 C even during said backup. During gaming they seldom go over 50 C.
