Photo's of a Sapphire Radeon RX 480 (AMD reference model) appeared online, the product has been taken apart into the smallest detail.... Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Disassembled
I'm really looking forward when G3D gets this card so we can see a proper review. And if it delivers the performance they say for that price they will sell like hotcakes.
Impressive card I here they can run @ 1607Mhz+ with the reference cooler but cant be 100% sure until i get my hands on one. Im looking forward to getting hold of one of these i haven't felt this way about a graphics card i a long long time. I think its all don to all the new stuff they have rammed in and its a unknown quantity.
As I gather from the articles around: Performance somewhere between 970/980 (definitely lower than 980) Overclocking to low 1300's Price about 300 Euro in EU
If these are going to be around 240$ then I wonder what the next step up will be performance and $ wise. That might just be next card or I'll wait for the monster gpus and refreshes for better price.
well i here its faster than the 980 at stock clocks. and can overclock 1500+ but time will tell. denying the truth to yourself wont make it so. and will be selling for around £180 for the 4 gig
The idea some how this card is going to be more than 200 pounds when its 200 dollar is ludicrous because a simple search on .com and .co.uk for the same item 220 to 240 dollar is around 180 pounds. Do the search for yourself will will see what im saying.
I do not like how they organize the PCB (power components are OK but in the wrong place) and - especially - that cheap and huge cooling systems. It reminds me a Pentium 3 heatsink.. waiting for a better organized PCB or at least a version with a nano-like cooling system....
Waiting for custom designed XFX model, as we have to bring them into my country, going for Rx 480s personally as well ...
Like comparing old products where prices have settled and demand is low will tell you anything Why don't you find a GTX1080 or GTX1070 and compare $ > £. New product vs new product.
Hilbert, it is interesting to see that you left out number of TMUs. Up till now GCN always had same number of TMUs per CU. Is there a reason for leaving that number unspecified at this point in time?
If I am reading that chart of the various AMD cards right that there is not going to be a Polaris RX 490 or 490X I take it. Maybe the 490 or 490X might be the Vega cards?? I am also interested in seeing how well this card Overclocks and what the official benchmarks are.
welp... there are people who like a heatsink to do what a heatsink should do. and others who like heatsinks to look like bling-blink... despite the fact they are below the cover anyway even if your case is open/windowed... but well... it's a typical thing... same with cars... some like functionality and pure performance without gimmicky stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8VBYafYXJI others like paying for bling bling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOjGZhZLeSY
