I have an MSI GTX980Ti Gaming 6G GPU this one I want to get these kraken k10 & kraken x41 Will I be ok with this on my GPU or will I need to use a shim between the cooler plate and the GPU die? I have seen some people post that they used a shim on other sites and some people are using rubber stand-offs to mount the K10 backplate... Any advise would be great cheers.
hmmm anyone had any hands on with this? Hydro Series HG10 N980 GPU Liquid Cooling Bracket Says it is compatible with my card here.
LOL close the thread. I purchased the corsair H75 and the hg10 n980 bracket. It just looks so much easier to install and it has "perfect" compatibility (i hope). With the kraken k10 I am reading like 5 different sites and 3 different youtube videos of people using shims, and weird washers to get it to mount properly. Not really interested in this method. I will post back if all goes well if not I shall just send the items back as I ordered from amazon so no hassle
I went with the kraken G10 instead as the corsair one doesn't fit on my card as the vrms and chokes are mounted differently and dont match the reference design. However the G10 works wonders, got it with a corsair H90 cooler and the temps are insane, a near 35C drop in load temps!!!:banana::banana: Sorry for the poor quality photos just snagged them off facebook temps before: idle: 39C load: 82C K10+H90: idle: 22C load: 45C Could not be happier, this lets me do +210 on the core and +500 on the memory at +43Mv CPU temps are down too by around 3-5C due to all the GPU heat being exhausted out from the radiator!
went from 63fps in witcher 3 maxed out to 71fps not seen it drop below 60fps at ultra settings with hairworks on too whereas before it would drop to around 53fps. temps in game haven't gone above 45C yet which is absurd really
So what's your real boost, that offset doesn't say much unless we know your base clock Well I set my base in bios to 1278MHz instead of factory oc 1179MHz, that's already +273MHz from stock 980Ti base 1006MHz. btw, great temp difference fix
How is the mounting ? does the length of the NZXT cooler/shroud "embrace" the pcb or you can mount it on a PCB that's bigger? I'm asking cause i was thinking of getting one for my 1080 but my pcb is wider than the specs of the cooler.
my gpu has a base clock of 1178MHz and boost of 1228MHz but my card at stock boosts it self to 1329MHz by it self thanks to GPU Boost 2.0 I am getting around 1509MHz with +210MHz and 4001MHz with +500 on the memory for 8004MHz effective. I have had to dial back the overclock for now as Overwatch really doesn't like the gpu being overclocked pretty much at all. I have tried everything, even switching from priority temps or power target. My card only goes to 109% power target which is strange seen as I have seen other MSI 980Ti 6G Gaming go up to 130%. Every other game is rock solid with this overclock though, just overwatch hates the GPU being anything but stock. Just make sure it has a clear spacing around the GPU area is clear if your GPU has something like this then you will need a copper shim Those mounting holes will restrict the block making good contact with the GPU core, there are many videos on youtube showing how to install a copper shim. I was lucky and my MSI GTX980Ti 6G Gaming does not have these mounting holes so I just detached the Twin Frozer cooler and left the vrm and ram plates and backplate on the card. When installed the Kraken G10 backplate you need to remove the sponge spacer from the middle and mount it directly to the backplate of the card for the screws to fit through the holes properly. Took me all of 10 minutes to fit.
I also chose the H90 over the X41 due to less cable mess as the Krakens have 3 cables coming from their blocks whereas the H90 has only one 3pin connector to power the pump so making for a tidier look. I just run the 3pin off the motherboard and set it to run at 100% on BIOS.
