GTX 1080 FE Fan spin question

So I just bought a the brand new MSI GTX 1080 FE and I noticed that the fan is spinning kind of weird. It seems to be pulsing high at random intervals.
I have set a fan profile in MSI Afterburner but still it keeps pulsing up.
    Anyone else have this problem?

I saw someone mention EVGA Precision & MSI Afterburner don't have working custom fan controls yet for the GTX 1080 cards. I can't remember where I read it I don't think it was here... but anyway Google isn't turning me up much about it.

Can't validate this myself can't find a 1080 card for sale anywhere that isn't a reseller price gouging.

If you use any software that modifies the fan profile, turn it off see if the problem goes away.

I've seen this a moment ago, apparently its something with fan rpm...

Some users are setting the fan speed to 3000 rpm and it stops. You still have noise.

That's not good. Let's hope they get this figured out quickly for the early adopters who paid the extra money. This seems like really poor quality control of a rushed product.

Any word on coil whine with Pascal? Maxwell cards (have 3) are (overall) pretty awful in that respect.

Strange i monitored my fanspeed with Msi afterburner for some days now on my 1080 and no pulsing or other strange things.I've set a custom profile and it goes up exactly at a certain temp and goes back to lower rpm when temps go down.No strange fluctuations either.

Sounds like something a BIOS update might fix

I'd get a refund asap and get one of the 3rd party ones coming out in 2 weeks. I wouldnt wait for a patch to fix this.

Third party ones that are designed by the company releasing. Example, EVGA is using the same PCB as the FE for the regular ACX 3.0 version and SC version. Only the FTW and Classified versions will have new PCB with two eight pin power connectors. Other companies do this as well. I would imagine any card with the one eight pin is going to use the same fan controller...
