I'm running Windows 10, and all of a sudden my mouse isn't working when i boot into safe mode. Ethernet won't work either if i choose to enable that in safe mode. Everything works while booting into windows the normal way. Any suggestions?
Mouse connected to USB3.0? Tried a USB2.0 port? EDIT - Found this about networking -- I had the same issue in Windows 10, this method worked for me: After booting into Safemode with Networking: 1: Click the Network icon prior to logging in as a user, you will be able to connect to a network. 2: Should the user account have auto logged in, press CTRL, ALT and DEL and then click the network icon, you will now be able to connect to a network I had the same issue where I couldn't connect to my Wifi in safemode w/ networking after logging in, however connecting to the wifi before logging in to my account in safemode worked. However, once I logged in the taskbar button in the lower right still showed a red x, representing I was not connected, even though I actually was. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...n/cfa17961-67cc-4310-8784-b48dafb9c353?auth=1
concerning the network... there is "safe mode" and "safe mode with networking". you have to choose the latter. concerning the mouse. if the advice of extraordinary doesnt help try switching xhci mode in bios. edit: be careful with the legacy USB option though! if you dont have a ps/2 backup keyboard you may close yourself out of the bios.
Thanks guys, i tried what you suggested but no luck so far. It's weird, i've had no problem with safe mode before on this windows install, not even did i experience this on my Win 7 either. However the network is working in safe mode eventhough windows is saying otherwise with its red cross over the icon. I managed to navigate to my browser with the tab key. Even tried with another mouse. USB 2.0 and 3.0. No go.
I think the real problem here is, why are you needing to go into safe mode so often that this is important?
hmm.. i know you already tried usb 2.0 ports. but did you also try the front panel connectors (if you have any)?
This is a stupid question. Could be as simple as using DDU to remove drivers in safe mode.. Why even bother asking a question like that
Had this issue once and it was solved by toggling USB features within bios. eHCI related, maybe. Mess around wit USB settings and you might gain safe mode functionality with mouse
Couldn't agree more, as I am trying to solve this very thing, I need to run DDU in safe mode and can't, because my mouse cursor is missing. I did a search and found this thread. Thanks.
My Proteus Spectrum won't work in safe mode. But my Vengeance M65 will work just fine. Don't know what the deal is but when I use DDU I just plug in the Corsair.
You are lucky, as I haven't mouse nor keyboard. I tried everything I was able to find in the net, but nothing works. I neither have UEFI BIOS and with the Windows 10 installation disk I have everything working. I don't know why in safe mode the drivers and services for keyboard and mouse are not loaded, unless the registry keys that list what drivers and services to load under safe mode are present and right.
