Hey guys I came across this card and my jaw just dropped, Powercolor Devil 13 dual-core R9 290X - he is asking $500 obo I think I am going to buy it, it just looks so damm cool and would look awsome in my system on account of the red accents I got going.Few questions for you guys tough please..... This is a Radeon R9 290X2 dual gpu right? Like the R9 295X2? What is the diffrence? Can my power-supply handle it or do I need to upgrade?> hx 850? It has to be ALOT faster then my Gtx 780 right? Thanks guys I offerd him $450 hope he bites. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/sop/5565575726.html Just incase someone else might be interested lol. Man look at that thing what a MONSTER! 4 power-connectors! :bat:
Dont do it. Multi GPU's are a mess. You'll be running one 290X most of the time without some kinda issues. Keep it in you pocket and wait for Polaris and Pascal.
Yeah looks "ok" deal, BUT it gets a bit loud, hot and can be heavy. Also crossfire is not guarantied every time, meaning only 1 gpu active.. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/powercolor-devil-13-dual-amd-r9-290x-review,3853-9.html http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/10/19/powercolor_devil_13_dual_core_r9_390_video_card_review/10 http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/powercolor_radeon_290x_295x2_devil13_review,26.html
Omg you have no idea how Sexy that card is!!! Hahaha.Really is it that bad with crossfire/Sli? I know I have been hearing that alot lately here, do you recon its something they will resolve in the near future? What a waste man! But I do appricate you being honest and letting me know.
Noise is not a problem for me guys lol, My sennheisers got me coverd. What a kick in the Balls not being able to utlize a card of this magnitude! Crap.
I'm not sure whether that PSU is enough for this card. AMD gpus eat much more than nvidia gpus, and since it's a dual 290x...
Well if you skim through those reviews and games tested, you can see a bigger picture if it works great or not.. But by few dx12 games multi gpu doesn't work, especially those from MS store - Forza6, Killer Instinct, RoTR.. MS said to fix xbox store and implement multi gpu support soon.. E.g if I go only with guru3d 3dmark firestrike score page its ~ 300points faster then 980TI @ 1470MHZ (gpu score ~21300). http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/powercolor-radeon-290x-295x2-devil13-review,25.html
Even when CF would not working, single 290X would still be alot faster than your 780. Either way patience is a virtue man.
Single 290x is a (little) faster not alot lol. I know that inner-fanboy trys to come out of me sometimes too but I try and hold it in. Hehe. I can wait I guess, Thank you guys much appricated.
Hmm You Ilke it Here Pick This instead -> http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/10/19/powercolor_devil_13_dual_core_r9_390_video_card_review/2 Or wait for Powercolor Devil 13 Polaris (yes it will come)
If it was new and for $400, it would be thing to consider. But it is CF and old, power hungry (proportionally heating) card. In few months, you'll get same performance in 1/2 of power consumption and very similar price (2 GPUs). Plus Polaris will have many improvements over Hawaii which will make it live even longer.
Yeah as of now I am officialy waiting on Gtx 1080 to launch, this will be my next card more then likely. Thanks guys.
I would hold off, the card is sexy yes, but crossfire is a horrible mess for many. I am beyond thunderdome frustrated with my cards. I run with just 1 most of the time except for a few games that run exceptional with xfire on (such as BF4). I should have just got the 390x. Lesson learned I suppose. New cards are just around the corner and I suspect you would be much happier with a brand spankin new card!
I am actually liking the new naming scheme, 1080 lol as in 1080p which is still what I use anyway. But I feel like they force you to upgrade too soon, these guys come-out with new cards like every couple of months. I cannot keep-up to that on what I make. An upgrade for me needs to last 1 year to be exact. Nvidia and Intel is the rich-mans playground.
