Odd stuttering in DAI w/ 980Ti SLI?

So I took the plunge and added another 980Ti to my setup. Overall very impressive - a few dips in Rise of the Tomb Raider's notorious Geothermal Valley but generally I'm locked into 60 in pretty much everything.

Except DAI. Whatever I do, I'm seeing absolutely no scaling in this game at all - I get no improvement with SLI on, and I even get annoying stuttering.

It's the only game which hasn't benefitted at all from a second card - except, oddly, allowing me to run at higher res with little performance loss.

But it's that ugly stuttering that's bugging me the worst. Is this known? I've tried the launcher extension to force 60FPS but it made no difference. Any ideas?

I don't know what game DAI is... but yah some games have little to no benefit using SLI. Even had a few games where I had to completely disable SLI to get good performance or prevent bugs.

I'm planning to go back to single GPU with Pascal... sold my old 980 Ti cards and using a 960 card for now until new GPUs are out.

are you on win 7 with high end sli in 2016?

frostbite engine, especially in SLI, and SLI overall, is much better on win10 than 7.

that would be my first step. using high end new hardware, with a 2009 OS is not a good starting point.

This is definitely the right road. I turned vsync off and am getting roughly 140FPS+ in this game now. Turn it on and I get the hitching. Hmmmmm...

and use MSI afterburner rtss fps limiter instead of game build-in..

If its anything like BF series then its this

make a user.cfg file in game base directory by .exe file

    write in;
    RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
    RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 1

this is ingame fps limit command, but rtss is a lot smother.

    GameTime.MaxVariableFps 60

    Doesn't help for WASD stuttering.

    This in the stats server?

EDIT: got it. And yes, this worked (almost) perfectly. The stutter is gone by about 98%. Still some micro stutter but I can live with it or even tinker around a little. Thanks for your help and indeed all the replies/repliers in this thread.

Yes, I changed my text a bit so it makes more sense :)

Hm extra tweak might be in DAI nvcpl driver profile,
threaded optimization - On instead of auto
    2 frames to render ahead
or 1 like in this game user.cfg file, or use both at 2..
power management mode - prefer max. performance,
single display performance mode if you're at 1 display

    EDIT: I had this extra BF4 user.cfg

This in bold might also work, by BF is improved it further

To get rid of the stuttering, install Intel Technology Driver. Helped me when I had 970SLI and also 980Ti (single). I've tried 980Ti SLI later and the scaling was quite good (as with all Frostbyte games). I think I had 120fps in some area with SLI but only 85 without.

Force vsync in the nvidia control panel, ingame vsync is really stuttery!
