    BF4 @ 1440p max settings with 970gtx and 6600k -> 60-90 fps.

never heard of a monitor having performance impact.

you will have the same speed at max settings as you have now, unless you change something with the settings...

If the previous monitor have lower max resolution, yes it will :p

well he asks as if he cant find out the performance by himself?
just start a game set it to 1440p and you will see how it performs.
you dont need to have a 1440p monitor to test 1440p resolution performance.
no matter the monitor. even on a 1080p monitor 1440p vsr/dsr performs the same as on a 1440p native.

yes at the moment i run 1920x1080 at 120hz , but 1440 i would struggle.
I havent bought it yet but was undecided what to do
I have the prolite gb2488hsu Nvidea control panel sax max is 1920x1080

well if your setup/gpu struggles at 1440p downscaled, then a monitor wont change anything except the pixel mask for your eyes to be displayed.
a non-ti 980 i expect to run games @1440p / 60fps with some of the options cranked down. like in a game where there is 10 settings from low - ultra.
maybe all on high and it should be stable. depends on the game ofc.

If your currently use V-syn for most games you might get a better experience, since the ASUS has g-sync
And if a game looses to much fps @1440p you can always render it @1080p instead, or turn down the settings, like using a bit less AA etc.

Keep in mind that AMD doesn't support G-Sync, if consider for a feature graphics card upgrade it might matter.

G-sync has some mixed opinions here and there and it also depends on what games do you play. I vote upgrade your gpu to the upcoming NVidia or AMD offering before you think about 1440p resolution. Moreover in a game like BF4 it is much more important to have high fps that beautiful picture!
I suspect 970 will begin to have some hard time with 1440p and newer games or future games.
    Just my 2 cents.

I had 980 SLI for my ROG Swift, which was just about ok... a single 980ti seemed to do better than that setup though, and 980ti SLI is pretty much minimum requirement if you want to max settings out on that monitor imo.

Running all games that currently exist at 1440p/144fps with max settings...well, there is no system that can handle that afaik. For example, had 980Ti SLI at some point and launched the Witcher 3. Couldn't get past the 100fps mark (that with HW disabled). Got the Acer XB270HU which is equivalent to the PG279Q (only difference is IPS instead of your TN panel).

I trust that Big Pascal will take care of this task once and for all.

Well it's not as though you need the game to run steady at the max refresh rate with gsync anyways. That's kind of the point of it.

Have you tried running ULMB? I only really play BF4 but can never really make up my mind what I like best, G-Sync @ 135 FPS (Frame limiter) or ULMB @ 120 FPS.
I end up just going back to G-Sync most of the time as I also have the ASUS Swift.

my rig runs bf4 at mostly 100fps plus maxed out on the same monitor , i started with a 1080p monitor but my gpu was barely breaking a sweat at the time after upgrading to my rog i took about a 25 to 30 fps hit in most games

BF4 is an old game and engine is not so demanding.

Games like The Witcher 3, Crysis 3, Lords Of The Fallen cannot be maxed out with gtx 980 ti in sli @ 1440p resolution.

My advise is stay @ 1080p atm wait for new gpu,s to come then see how they perform on 1440p.

    I have a PG279Q 1440p monitor and a 780 Ti.
I play BF4 and most games at max settings and between 70-120 fps.

The biggest killer is anti-aliasing. If you can deal with a lower setting or it off completely you'll have no issues.
