So yesterday i decided to give windows 10 another chance, hoping that the problems i've had with gta v last summer have been sorted by now but i still experience the exact same problem. :bang: The stutters or mini freezes (hard to explain) start after ~20 seconds ingame. It's like the game just stops for a second and then suddenly jumps back to normal. Doesn't matter if i'm driving, walking, standing or in the setiings menu. This goes on in 5sec intervals before the problem completely vanishes after a minute or so. Any suggestions? AMD R9 290 (Crimson 16.1.1) i5 4570 8gb ddr3 Windows 10
Tabbing in and out of the game makes no difference. All i can do for now is just wait for it to disappear after ~1 minute or so. edit: it looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7yFnD7xMFQ But for me it happens every 5 seconds and not constantly like in the video.
Maybe it's some kind of videocard downclocking/throttling problem? I would give Clockblocker a try http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=404465
I was playing GTA V today with my system you see under my picture, on latest 16.1.1 it was really smooth, i was surprised. DDU then clean the registry with the ccleaner and then install latest 16.1.1.
Didn't work :wanker: Already did that multiple times and now i'm on fresh system. "Microsoft basic display adapter" was the only thing that was installed before the crimson 16.1.1 driver installation.
Latest public version, clean install, fully updated. edit: All my other games run fine btw. No difference compared to win 8.1, maybe even a little better but could be placebo.
Ok after extensive testing i finally found out whats causing it and it's the grass setting! I can max the game and don't get a single stutter/mini-freeze but anything higher than "normal" grass gives me huge frametime spikes from a solid 16.6ms to ~240ms! I want my very high grass back
Just an idea, use VSR and set the resolution to 1440p. I get a couple extra frames and it's smoother on my 290X. It forces the game to give the GPU more load.
Thanks for the tip but it doesn't change anything. There is something wrong with the grass setting/windows 10 combination on my system. Guess i'll have to wait for official win 10 support from rockstar if that's ever going to happen. uke2:
Yep, noticed exactly the same thing. Pauses in even intervals in the beginning. Then stops after about a minute or so. Smooth sailing after that. I can't say for sure if this started happening after switching to W10 or after a major GTAV update.
Sry to hear but i'm glad i'm not the only one, so it can't really be a user error. Do you still have the game/win10 installed? If so, try normal grass, just for confirmation. I'm 99% sure the problem will completely disappear. edit: It's win10, i was on win 8.1 until yesterday and it was smooth as butter.
I have it installed will try and report back. EDIT: Correct, no pauses at the beginning with grass on normal.
I also had the problem of major stuttering in the first 2 minutes. I think it was because of ENB. What I did to resolve it immediately was to ALT+ENTER twice to exit and renter full screen. Also, did you try ClockBlocker to eliminate micro stuttering?
I started and finished GTA 5 both prior to and after installing Windows 10. The game ran smoother and with no issues for me under Windows 10.
What FPS are you getting? I found 60FPS (60Hz monitor) caused stuttering for me in Windowed Borderless mode. Frame limiting to 50 with RTSS removed most stutters.
