Firewatch is a mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness, where your only emotional lifeline is the person on the other end of a handheld radio. Released just now! More info: http://www.firewatchgame.com/
It's on Steam~! http://store.steampowered.com/app/383870/ I didn't think this was coming to PC, this has made me happy..
I have been so hyped for this game but sadly I just put in a refund request. I left it until the last minute, hoping it would become fun but it just didn't. It looks and sounds amazing, there's no question there, but the gameplay is just dull. This is my first time using Steam refund so hopefully it goes smoothly.
Steam refund is really smooth actually, only small downside is that when I refunded a game the money was held back until the next day.
Ya I've refunded a few games, no problem as long as I choose to be refunded on my steam wallet. Refunds to Paypal can take a while. Game doesn't look too engaging from what I've seen so far. And that kinda confirmed my suspicion.
I thought this game was a little dull at first, especially with all the text screens interrupting the first person sections every 10-15 seconds. I was actually wondering if that was all the game was but once the game began proper then I realised how effective they were at setting up the background to the character you play as. The radio chatter is really well done IMO and sounds completely natural. I am really enjoying it, although the game is not without issues and I am not all the struck on the visual style (the main character looks like a dwarf while rappelling down ropes for example!). One, the Xbox One controller is supported and the game is playable with it but it suffers from the left movement bug that plagues many other Unity Engine games so as soon as I enter the Settings my Volume is lowered to nil and I cannot even quit the game because it moves between Yes and No too fast!!! Two, the game obviously supports the Xbox controllers (albeit with hiccups) but the game still shows keyboard/mouse prompts which is extremely annoying, particularly as there are lots of different controls. Finally, the performance at 2560x1440 is mostly OK but the game does stutter noticeably while exploring, especially if you run (likely a streaming issue at a guess). Good game though with a nice atmosphere. *EDIT* By switching the controls from Keyboard to Controller in Settings, it fixed the incorrect icon prompts *and* the left movement issue!!! So there's just the stuttering now.
I just saw this now on Steam and thinking to myself how incredibly dull does that sound?I might give it a second look after reading this thread.
3 hours for £13 bucks... wow. If I want to play a purely story driven game, I will play engaging, fun games that also provide real game-play. It is even listed as a WALKING SIMULATOR on Steam!!
Just saw the review, I cant believe people will buy it for 15£ to walk around a virtual park. Get out more, cycle in the real park, spend the 15 on a picnic instead. I have no idea why even make this. https://www.youtube.com/embed/bBFEhlBn4g0
Anyone have problems with the resolution? I change it to 4K or 1080p and it doesn't do anything it just stays at 720p.
I can't believe someone will pay $20-$30 for a 1 and a half hour, non-interactive movie...oh wait, for the story. This game is all about story. The reality is it's better to look at this game from a more interactive movie then it is typical game, but that doesn't mean by any means it's not worth it. I just got done playing this game and find it pretty awesome, the dialogue was amazing, and was a nice fresh feeling from your typical games.
