As the title says the hotfix for the low fan speed or fan lock in global overdrive portion of the crimson driver is coming out tomorrow

yeah its not bs when I tested it stayed locked @20% with all 3 of my 290x's one shut down at about 103c the other one did not shut down or go into 2d but it did throttle the clocks it hit 105c,then I shut it down.

good winter driver for me :)
fan speeds work fine when using ab thuo.

nah 480's are better then 590's(plus less chance to burn up vrm's)for spot heaters'

but still one thing is eating at me here.. why didn't the bios locked the cards out.. i mean there are safeguards in place just for that

They should never have released this driver, besides the fan speed more stuff is going on.
    People with different cards even.

you know sometimes things are just not in place in bios or are messed up trying to fix or change other things along the way .that's why I suspect not all cards even if the same make and model will go into limp mode or shut down.
I tested 3 290x cards 1 msi lighting stuck at 27% fan it was 97c so I turned it off
    (I really like that one)
1 ref sapphire on release day bios got to 103c then turned off my rig no 2d mode but it did throttle down during load so safety measures did work
the other ref sapphire card I think about 1 month after release with a different bios hit 105c then I shut it down myself.
all fans were left at auto.
cards are fine otherwise but I could see maybe a card dying???maybe not so much the cores melting(jajajajaj)but the vrm's

That reference 480 I got from you had to be run at stock and 100% fans and still hit 90c easy.

well tommy that was not a cowie exclusive they all ran hot as heck jajajajaj
plus the fans were only at 85% really because they got loud too.
I mean there is spot heater like the 480 and then there is fire starter like the 590's :)

Hope they hotfix the other issues as well quickly... like clockspeeds jumping up and down and rendering artefacts.

Apparently AMD rushed the release of this driver, became a victim of their own hype.

I think I edited the bios for 100% if iirc, like my 580 they were at 85% too but ran about 15c cooler.

yeah the 580's were pretty good on temps/power they started to come down with the 460's the 500's were like ice compared to the 400's
the ref 290x has top spot for heat that I could remember and I really do use it to heat my loft in the winter no joke

No clockspeed issues here. The clocks should be actually kind of jumping depending on load from what I read they introduced rather aggressive power saving feature, but it seems to be malfunctioning for some. But those rendering artefacts makes it hard to see when I lose hp in darn armored warfare :D

Actually I don't have clockspeed issues either, but seen many report those among other things.
Do get artefacts tho, switched back to Cat 15.11.1 to be safe atm.

Did like the Crimson driver overall so waiting for fixes here :)

On my laptop, "Crimson" just crashes....after taking nearly an hour to install. On my Athlon 5350 with R7 240 the driver seems fine.

You should try a reference 4850.... They easily hit 105C with the fan at 100%...

The problem isn't the clocks but the fan speed.
