Anyone here knowledgeable in the ways of modifying audio gear? I have a half decent Bluetooth speaker I would like to improve if at all possible. It has 2 6ohm 10w speakers in side it with what look to be carbon fiber cones.. oooo fancy! It has a STA540 amp inside: https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Components/General/STA540.pdf The current speakers are LOUD.. very much so and even distort at the highest volume setting but they are lacking in the bass area.. a lot. They have just enough bass to them to sound "ok". I am trying to figure out what the max wattage speaker is I can get away with putting in and at what ohm rating. Can anyone help me out? Reading the spec sheet tells me that depending on how they have set up the amp chip will dictate what speakers I can use How can I tell what set up they have used? aka Stereo plus bridge drive or Dual bridge or Alternative single-ended speaker connection
What size drivers are they? If they are 4 inch drivers, you can get full range 4 inch drivers for cheap, and they will never distort and utilize the full capabilities of the amp They are 100 watts rms peak drivers. here: something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FUSION-4...043458?hash=item35d901d842:g:B7cAAOSwGzlTtM7P they are 4 ohms so maybe not these are 6 ohms: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JVC-4-6-...335909?hash=item43e5084f65:g:MKMAAOSwYHxWNrgR
I measured the speakers i have and they are: 3 Inch cones, with the metal frame its 3.25Inch and the screw holes are 2.75 inch apart so want to get something thats exactly the same size if at all possible
These will be perfect and 20 watts handling so will never distort. However 2 of them might be a bit costly... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/For-ALTE...652773?hash=item35e3d4fba5:g:K9cAAOSwpDdVPLZG or these x2 check out the magnets, these would rock http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1pcs-3-i...031156?hash=item4d2c14a0b4:g:ofAAAOSw0e9Uui3F
