    Hey,

Kinda unsure what's the best option here, I'm kinda wondering if it would be better to get a slightly better PSU like the HX, but a little less W, or go with the RM which is 1000W - if you see what I'm saying?

My rig is in my sig only difference will be a second 780 soon for 780 SLI.

    Thanks very much guru's

Double check, but I think that the RM is Dual Rail & the HX is single.

Dual Rail is considered to have better power flow to multi gpu systems but I can't say it would really make much difference. Be sure to go with a platinum 80+ tested one.

I went for the HX1000i over the RM series, which may or may not have better eco friendly features.

If it's a price issue, for the sake of 1000w go with the RM.

See my sig. I had the HX850 with an I5-750 @ 4.2 GHZ and Asus P7P55D-Deluxe MB. Lighting storm took out the PSU and motherboard. CPU is fine.

Corsair replaced it with the RM1000 and I had to buy the new cpu and mb. The difference is also the warranty. HX had 5 years! RM is 3 years, but Corsair will only warranty me for the year difference of the HX (about 1.5 years left).

So if I was buying completely NEW again, I would buy the HX and whatever amount of power I would need. That 5 year warranty alone was worth it.

    Or AX860 ?

Reckon AX 860W would be a better choice then the RM1000i ??

    If so why?

http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/power-supply-units scroll down to the 'COMPARE' chart. I'm looking at the basic AX860 (I just don't need corsair link?)

    Cheers.

Using an RMi 850 at the moment nice PSU, if you don't intend to use the link software I think a regular one will be fine.

I'm running the Corsair AX860 since just like you I have no real interest in the link software for the PSU. It's got plenty of juice to run SLI (previously ran overclocked GTX580's 900hmz core & my old and power inefficient i7 950 at 3.8ghz) without issues and it's also of a compact/regular size being smaller than its 1000w counterparts.

sorry i didnt listen to one of your other posts, ax series is also great. but if youve got the cash you could also look into some high end seasonic units, as they are (IMO) the best psu manufacturer. you could also look into evga g2 , p2 or even t2 if youve got the cash as they are awesome units

The AX series is their flagship so it is an excellent choice. I'm also looking to replace my TX, it buzzes and whines way too much now that I got a new gfx card. I put my ear near the case and it's most definitely not coming from the gfx card.

Okay I'm gonna thread jack here. I'm looking to replace my aging HX850(4years old). I'm looking to do a 1KW unit would it be worth it to get the HXi over the RMi?

HXi (personaly), they are both good quality units, but i would get an evga g2 1000w, or if you want platinum efficency like the HXi has then get a evga p2 1000w.

Amazon has the HX1000i for $188.99 + free shipping. The G2 is 80+ gold the P2 is $210.98.

Naw man no problem. I would have gotten the corsair over the EVGA anyways as I've decided to boycott them after the PrecisionX debacle.

The good thing is that the HX1000i is the same dimensions as my current HX850 so I don't have to reposition my lower 240 radiator. Too bad I have to re-sleeve a ton of cables.
