We review the long anticipated and awaited MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Lightning edition. You'll retrieve up-to 1.3 Volts to play with on the GPU voltage range for example. This 6 GB card is overclocked...

Generic typo at the first page of the review, talking about Asus card...

Nice review btw, GPU OC was expected, memory clock is much more than I've expected, nice :D

Dat mem OC, is it for real? I didn't know anything past 8000MHz was possible but 8,6k? That's unreal.

    The Lightning rdition
    :D

Is MSI PCB design that cool that there is no need for extra heatsinks for VRM, mem chips?
All convection, no conduction save for GPU die....hmm not so sure this is the actual heatsink shot:

No if you peek at the exploding shot you'll notice another metal plate covering the VRM etc.

And that is exactly what I'll be doing with my R9 290 + AC IV combo :nerd:

Damn all these custom cooler oc 980 ti are untouched in performance. Boost clock is about where it should be I guess, memory oc is freaking sick though.

Pass that would make it a 4gb card.

Is this one of those special reviewer's sample cards that come with 122% power limit - but actual retail cards are only like 109% power limit?

MSI pulled that crap on the 980Ti cards. Review samples had very high power limits, but retail cards did not.

You can do it yourself, mod your power limit and make it what you want, I`m at 120%

They meant the same thing. 122% = 109%, the difference was that one BIOS has lower starting limit. 109% Max version had higher default limit. You can't compare percentages without knowing what it actually means. In this case 100 % did not mean the same thing.

Very few 980 ti go higher than low 1500`s on air, only the best of the best, impressive memory clock though.
